MSOP 266$ 6max:

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold’em Tournament, 1000/2000 Blinds 250 Ante (5 handed) – Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

SB (t94367)

Hero (BB) (t153702)

UTG (t109191)

MP (t53424)

Button (t177290)

Hero’s M: 36.17

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, Q

2 folds, Button bets t5125, 1 fold, Hero calls t3125

Flop: (t12500) Q, 9, 4 (2 players)

Hero checks, Button bets t8125, Hero raises to t22888, Button raises to t95555, Hero raises to t148327 (All-In), Button calls t52772

Turn: (t309154) 9 (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t309154) 6 (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: t309154

Image: superaggro, consistently openraising, putting pressure on the opponents.

Preflop: I don’t want to reraise and fold especially because he is quite tight for a 6max game and i think stacksizes aren’t too good to get it in

Postflop: I think with just calling he doesn’t expect me to have AQ. I think this board is quite good to c/r 4 value.

Is this spot overplayed?

Thanks for help.

I agree with your call after the flop you had top pair with top kicker. His cbet was normal  but when you reraised and he went all-in that made me nervous because you said he was tight.  I would have probably called his bet and let him hang himself if I was in the lead or see if he went all in after the turn. I am thinking he has a hand that can beat the flop or QQ, Q9. Pairing the nine on the board sends alarm bells, I would have like the option of getting away after I saw the turn and how he bet but by calling his shove you removed that option. This is just my opinion and take it with Jack Daniels I am not even close to Pro level, so my opinions probably blow. I am interested in hearing how the hand played out.

Im torn here. Your image would lead one to believe that your hand wouldnt be as strong as it is. However, your saying the villian is tight and yet he goes aggro on the flop. I think he is polarized to either a set/over pair or he  thinks your FOS and thinks his weaker hand is good. I say go with your gut but when he reraises you cant be feeling so good about the hand. But like Casey says you should follow through with your plan and read.

I understand why you didn’t want to reraise preflop with stacks so big.  But I kinda like a reraise pre.  With him being tight, well, at least you can fold with a clear conscience if he 4 bets, while usually just taking down the pot without having to hit the flop.

As played,  the pot is really pretty small compared to what’s in the stacks, and again, you have a tight opponent.  So I wouldn’t want to play for the whole stack in that spot.   Yeah, I think you probably did overplay it.  I’d probably just check and call, keep pot small for flop and river, and maybe assuming nothing too wacky happens on the turn and river cards, you can then go for a little extra value on the river since with your image he may think you are spazzing out and call you a bit light on river.

y, i was thinking about check/calling, especially because he was so tight. But i thought it’s so unlikely that he has a really strong holding when we are 5handed and he raises the button, but i think if i call the big blind i can keep worse hands in the pot. Postflop the board was really nice to check/raise because there are many hands to c/r against and i think the line is good against a loose-aggressive player, but not against this player mb. I should have gotten suspicious when he 3bets me this big because i agree this type of player is strong there and not doing it with the nutflushdraw or sth like that. Ok, you never know, mb i am a little bit results oriented 😀

Thanks anyway. I have just seen he finished 3rd for about 25k. A little bit frustrating after crushing the tables in this tournament but ok…
