Hi,

We are about 20 left (420 players at the start) in a 6 max MTT semi turbo (8min level). I'm about 6th in stack. Villain is new to my table, arrived 12 hands ago. He has been raising pretty much every hand. I saw him raise/call 9BB shove with 65s in BTN vs SB. I already 3bet him once (the second hand after he came to my table):

So here is the hand, what is your line turn + river?

Do you think hes capable of flatting two pair+ here on flop?  Flat Ak pre?

He is IP so this stuff is a tad concerning, but against some villains this is never gonna happen, they just dont think to do things like that.

Want to start with comments on sizing, love your sizing pre in both hands.  I thnik your flop bet in second hand is a little weird, I either go bigger, smaller, or check.  I think your size is setting up weird turn sizing spots(liek you do now), but also making it big enough to where you might price out some pur efloats, but not really valueing hands that he calls with.  So if you go bigger you get the value portion of his range(pretty much every ace and strong draws+stubborn Ts, etc.).

I think my deafult here is to bet like 23-24kish and set up 3 streets.

Irregardless that is a stupid turn.  I think I still bet though, but not sure on what sizing you should do given stack is semi awkard, maybe like 48k?  He still has a lot of hands that you beat(although probably nut worse turn imo), and he will probably take the free card.

Checking has some merit, with the plan to bomb every blank river when he checks back(like 70-80k), and revaluating(probably calling) if he bets.

There is sometimes with better reads I check/shove here as he mgiht be horribly pricing himself in with weak draws or pair+SD type hands.

Hi, ty for anwser.

As I said I only have 12 hands on him so can't be sure of what he is doing but I don't think he is calling AK pre and I think he is raising two pairs+ on the flop (it's what people do in general).

I totally agree with you on my flop sizing, it's pretty bad. I'm usually betting between 23/24K as you said here but as he seemed to be a bit calling station and lagtard I sized a little bit more on this draw heavy flop but I should have bet bigger and shove the turn!

If you bet turn and he shoves, you are calling?

They call 3b otb with so many worse chit that betting turn shud be good. Ur pre and flop line/sizing though kinda allows him to play perfectly if hes competent at all….so he will and shud chk back his equity on turn if u chk. If the river is a blank then i actually prefer c/c. We cant get three streets unless hes a complete station who thinks A5 is the nizzles. But i expect a huge chunk of his range to be combos and draws. For that reason i like leading turn and c/c blank rivers and maybe block bet some scarey ones.

hey,

so the fact that he r/c 9BB BTN vs SB indicates that he knows what he is doing. also the fact that he raises pretty much every hand is indicative that he is a good aggro player and likes to put pressure on others

hand 1 is completely fine.

hand 2 i disagree with CCuster 911 on the prflop size. Villain already showed a tendency of not folding pre often to 3bets.

That and the fact that we are OOP and the effective stack size makes me 3bet bigger pre. I go close to 3-3.2x here to make SPR for flop as low as possible.

We also charge him more with this sizing for his preflop peels.

Considering the flop. Given villain raised every hand i dont think he flats 99,TT,AK pre flop. so the only hand we are beat is AT,A9. i think he would also play sets and 2pairs faster on such a draw heavy board which hits our range perfect

he will def call with lots of middle pair hands and draws on flop. maybe some floats

so i bet flop.

think you have two variants.

1.) bet big that you can pot size shove turn

2.) bet small to triple barrel shove

i prefer 2.) because it keeps his draws in even if he does not get the odds

cheers
