V only had 13 hands at the table but was running 67/44 with a 17% 3-bet and 100% C-bet. Even the small amount I saw seemed really bad.

I don’t know what would be worth check-raising on the flop that was only worth a BB defend PF. I really think he had a missed straight draw or something equally bad. I just had to give him credit for the 3rd barrel. Maybe he played a strong hand odly thinking he had me hooked on the exact hand I had, but he seemed to bad to give him that much credit.

J9, QT, 78, 99, 66, and lots of air on his range for those stats, even with small sample i guess…

To call turn i think you need a plan for the river as well, you calling turn hoping to improve your hand? to see if V is going to slowdown? I think if i call ott, i will call otr too, 3h doesn´t change much that, what was beating you still is, and all the draws probably shove considering a really agro V, 13 hands can´t be trusted tow…

You think V check-raises two-pair and sets? Why? Scared that I am betting a straight draw? Just because V is OOP and doesn’t want to risk check-check turn action? I think I usually call with those hands unless the flop is wetter or I have a read that makes me think this is juicing the pot. I doubt V had any reason to think I wouldn’t bet again if I had a real peace and I’m folding anything else anyway, so why check-raise and blow out my air and weaker Js? JQo is at the very bottom of my range here (though I guess I could have a weaker kicker if suited).

It is a $1+$0.10 MTT, I hardly think they “think” that is it, they see a strong hand and bet bet bet… I used to do that laughnow I am improving jejeje

But  Iguess they do that with strong hands and air too…

Well a guy who’s half decent could be defending with a hand like J9 and looking to get called down by AJ/KJ type hands, or maybe turning a weak pair with a hand like 56 into a bluff, or just 3 barreling 7T/8T/QT type hands, but based on your read on the villains play so far I’d say he’s probably just barrelling any two and counting on you to fold by the river. There’s only 1 high card and even someone pretty bad will probably put you on a lot of AX hands that will have a hard time calling him down three streets.

They way the hand played out there wasn’t really any tanking (not super fast, but it was probably obvious I didn’t have much to think about). It was just bet, call, bet, call, shove. I went one level in and thought, “How could someone shove with air after getting called down like this?”. A shove bluff seemed so suicidal. I think I would have called with AJ. I still can’t help but think QJ was good after playing with the guy longer, but in this first hand, I just couldn’t believe he would be punting his stack on a bluff. My brain just doesn’t get there. I’ve seen it in the past where I had the nuts and someone just pushes all their chips right in to my stack with some gawd-awful hand, so its not like right down in my core I don’t believe people do this. I don’t know…good hand V, I guess.

The point that had me agonizing over hitting the fold button though was the check-raise. As I posted above, I don’t think two-pair or a set check-raises the flop. I kinda wish I would have called it off just to know the truth, heh.
