I think I was correct in shoving here with the raiser being short here.  However after the hand was over the loser chatted up a storm calling me a donkey for shoving with AA.

You got lucky he had a strong hand for sure. Make a regular sized 3 bet here – something like 1000-1100 to try and induce a shove. You're making a lot of weaker hands fold by shoving here that could call a 3 bet or shove over a small 3 bet.

Yeah this one is different from your tens hands.  You have around 28 BB's.  I would put a 3 bet as well as shoving is only getting called by premiums.  Glad he had one here.

OK thanks, I was reacting more to the raisers 17bb more than my stack size.  I think this is probably a leak I have by trying to iso someone like this.

im gonna go ahead and say you played the hand correct.  You are absolutely right when you say you are thinking about your opponent's stack in this situation.  I'm assuming this is a 24+2 tourney on tilt, so the players are somewhat competent, and making a normal three bet with his stack size in mind looks way too strong.  The way you played it he thinks to himself, can't be AA or KK because he would just make a small raise.  I think it's AK or JJ.  You represent AK here, and I think will get called by something as bad as 77 because he puts you on AK.  personally if i opend a 17 bb stack, first of all i have a strong hand already, and second, if i get a small three bet and am holding 88, which i would just shove in the first place so it's pretty hypothetical, i would be less inclined to call then if you jammed.  Just my opinion though.

I'd shove it too.  If you 3 bet, you look too strong and fold out a lot of weaker pairs like 88 99 TT JJ that may decide to call your shove and fold to your 3 bet.  YOu've just 3 bet a short stacked UTG from relatively EP position yourself.  Lots of players will be scared of you.  Hell, UTG may think twice here and fold himself.

Just calling is definitely the worst option as it'll become a flat fest.

Shoving is good because it'll probably get the call from the utg opener and perhaps calls from worse pairs.

Either way I don't think he's folding to a normal 3bet or a shove, prob. ends the same. Good move.
