This is my first post as I have just recentluy joined. I wanted to start by getting views on a hand I played earlier this year in a live 5K event in Niagara.

We were approximately 40% through the field with the blinds at 300-600.

Folded to the Villain in the Cutoff who has 31K and was relatively active and shown down a couple of bluffs.  He reaises 2.5x to 1500.

Hero is on the button with 33K and has 9-7 of clubs, and 3 bets to 4250. Villain calls.

Flop comes J-9-2 rainbow with one club.  Villain checks and Hero bets 5400.  Villain check raises to 14000K….

What should Hero do next?  I'll post the rest of the hand after I get some responses.

I mean these completely depends on your read. Since you said villain was active and had shown bluffs I'm guessing you floated or shoved here. In general your 3bet sizing probably doesn't need to be quite as big IMO. Also you didn't give us reasoning behind your flop cbet. Is it for value? Protection? To induce?

I C-bet a high percentage of teh time so it was standard for me there. In addition, I beleived I had the best hand but it was veruy vulnerable and there were a lot of turn cards that would have put me in a tough spot had I checked the flop and the villain led out on the turn.  Considering that the pot was a decent size, I would have been more than happy to take it down with my c-bet.  Make sense?

Yep, good justification. I think in general I just like flatting this preflop and then raising/bluff raising a lot of flops but that just might be a style thing. Depending on how much you're 3betting the button, you know you're gonna get played back at some here which is why I like a slightly smaller sizing. What do you put his range of flatting 3bets OOP? What do you put his check raising range at? He can have semi bluffs here like KQ for sure…or can he?

wouldn't 3bet more than 2.5x in position, cbet is ok but do it small, if you think he is bluffraising you can shove but seems very unlikely that he is bluffraising almost half his stack

Thanks for all the comments. I will admit that I didnt give the villlain much credit and played the hand very poorly only to suck out by turning 2 pair to beat his QQ.  Having palyed a lot more over the last couple of months and working on my bet sizing, I do realize that was a big part of how my hand was misplayed.  It was a hand that I had tried to justify in my head, especially after the vilalin went off on my donk move as he hit the rail but in retosopect it was a really poor play that got paid off.
