Four players left in small local Tourney.

Prizemoney is 1 — 250 Euro

2 — 150

3– 100

4— 60

In the previous hand I lose a big pot when my shove with A 10 gets called by a donk with K 7 and he gets there.

In the next hand, I am in the BB and put out 60,000 chips and have only 120,000 left. The guy that beat me in the last hand puts me all in from th SB.I am thinking automatic call untill I look down at 23 offsuit.

I fold ?????

Smallcat,

I've got to put it all in here.  With the antes (you didn't mention them, but they've got to be there with 4 players left, right?) you're getting better than 2:1 odds to call.  Your hand may be terrible, but it's about a 1:2 underdog against anything he holds, so the price is right to play.  It sucks, but you've got to go with it.  Hope for the best, and if you're lucky, after 2 double-ups you'll be at 12+ bb's, and have a chance to take it down.

Thanks for the post,

Wacky

If he has been bad like that K7 hand all tourney. I don't even look. Double here and you have 6BBs fold and it just gets worse. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and go with it.

He should literally shove any two on the sb here and you should be calling any two, because the antes will make it so +chipev.

Thanks guys, I see now that I should have called. The next hand I get AA in the SB. I go all in for 120,000 chips. The BB only has to call 60,000 more and does with 8 3 off. Flop 33x. gg.

I'm not just going to tell you to call or tell you to fold. Working out whether to call here is a math problem, and knowing how to do these calculations is essential. You don't necessarily have to do them in real-time, but work on them away from the table and after a while you'll get good at estimating them.

Presuming there are antes and the blinds are 30k/60k, the antes would be about 5k. That means 60+30+20 = 110k in the pot preflop. The small blind puts another 150k in the pot to cover you, so that's 260k in the pot when it gets to you, and 120k to call, assuming I've guessed the level of antes correctly.

120k to call + 260k in the pot = 380k pot to be won

120k divided by 380k = 0.31

We need 31% equity vs his range to call.

His range is 100% of hands.

32o vs 100% of hands has 32% equity. Therefore, we call. smile Of course, if there are no antes that might change things and we could maybe even find a fold, and if there are bigger antes it's a more profitable call and a bigger mistake to fold anything here.
