very early on with no reads. how is my play here? only reads were that i put villian on flush draw. also with this just being a 9 man SNG should i be willing to go all the way with this hand….

Why would he lead there…very donkish move. Im kinda of torn, I think calling is just too weak and if we raise we need to ship it. Hate that its in the early stages. You could maybe min-raise and play accordingly but Im really not a big fan of that either. Lets here from some pros.

A great way to simplify the early sng game a bit is to make sure you open to at least 120 (around 10% of your starting stack) in the early rounds.  A few reasons for doing this:

  • You will play fewer multiplayer pots
  • It makes it easier to stack the donks when they see a flop and hit their top pair or draw.
  • You can get the money in on the turn without a massive overbet
  • Less tough decisions
  • Simple to implement and with less decisions so easier to mass-mulittable (which should be your goal if playing sngs for income)

Once the blinds get to 20/40 you just revert back to 3x or whatever you are comfortable with. It’s not a tell since you open only premiums anyhow and always to the same number.
