Hello!

No reads on V, and my question is about how to play this kind of spots, since V´s range is quite wide for calling from BB.

Pacific, $2.70 Buy-in (200/400 blinds, 50 ante) No Limit Hold’em Tournament, 9 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager – The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: 4,938 (12.3 bb)
BB: 14,782 (37 bb)
UTG+1: 9,095 (22.7 bb)
UTG+2: 15,401 (38.5 bb)
Hero (MP1): 20,340 (50.9 bb)
MP2: 20,572 (51.4 bb)
MP3: 37,798 (94.5 bb)
CO: 2,169 (5.4 bb)
BTN: 3,719 (9.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Kspade Aclub
2 folds, Hero raises to 800, 5 folds, BB calls 400

Flop: (2,250) 9diamond Kheart Qheart (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets 1,125, BB calls 1,125

1- This is a standard cbet fold spot? Or GII because V can be heavily on draws?

Turn: (4,500) 4diamond (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

2- Bet small turn, and checking OTR is a better line than pot control on this draw heavy board? If I do bet, bet and fold?

River: (4,500) 3heart (2 players)
BB bets 3,500, Hero ?

3- Do I have a bluff catcher? Or is just too weak to call?

1. Cbet/call. When we get it in on this board we are likely crushed, I prefer calling and keeping his bluffs in. I think bet/folding is a very close second best option as V can have all the 2 pair and straight combos here.

2. Bet 3k/fold. Betting small gives him correct odds with draws, I prefer a sizing that still gets called sometimes by 1 pair hands and either folds out draws or allows villain to make an incorrect call with them. At these stakes we will often see players call off bigger sizings in spots where they should not. If we are raised here I think its likely we are against a range of 2 pair+ with some very strong draws and should fold.

3. Fold. Villain has so few hands that he called the flop with that he will want to bluff on this river card, however we can give him many credible value hands. I think villain will check back all 1 pair hands and look to get to showdown cheaply and will rarely look to get value from them or turn them into a bluff.

You should be using a bigger c-bet size on a board of this texture, as it’s one where you should be relatively polarized, and where many of V’s hands will be price sensitive.

Definitely bet turn. It’s not likely that Villain just called flop with better than your hand, and there are tons of hands that will put money in now but not if they whiff river. Yeah, it’s kind of a tough spot if raised, but either you will rarely be raised or continuing will be very profitable.

Easy fold on river.
