888 Poker $55, 9 handed- 3500/7000 Ante 875 NL – Holdem – 7 players

BB: 10.24 BB (VPIP: 16.90, PFR: 10.07, 3Bet Preflop: 1.61, Hands: 142)
Hero (UTG): 37.89 BB
UTG+1: 51.64 BB (VPIP: 21.21, PFR: 18.18, 3Bet Preflop: 7.69, Hands: 34)
MP: 37.1 BB (VPIP: 25.83, PFR: 21.93, 3Bet Preflop: 8.16, Hands: 120)
CO: 67.47 BB (VPIP: 27.27, PFR: 15.63, 3Bet Preflop: 5.56, Hands: 33)
BTN: 12.46 BB (VPIP: 20.00, PFR: 12.82, 3Bet Preflop: 2.56, Hands: 80)
SB: 48.92 BB (VPIP: 14.71, PFR: 6.06, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 34)

7 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.38 BB) Hero has Aheart Kdiamond

Hero raises to 2 BB, fold, fold, CO raises to 5.57 BB, fold, fold, BB raises to 10.12 BB and is all-in, HERO?

My image is tight, I have played only one hand in 3 orbits, only calling an 6BB shove with AJo from BB vs. B.

BB played tight, but taking his spots well. CO was a bit more active, but nothing out of line so far.

One more n00b question, when using a tool to calculate this spot, what range should I use for BB?

As CO with 10BB as per Jennifear (this range seems to week), as UG with 10BB? How do I calculate in 4-Bet.

I am going to make the assumption that you are in the money and already laddered a bit as there are only 7 players remaining.

In this spot I am reshipping pretty much all day long, if the big stack calls so be it. I’d be looking at this spot to chip up and make a run for the big W, but that’s just me. Its a bit crap if you get called and lose busting 7th / 6th but there is only one other shorty remaining at the table. If you are called by the big stack and win the hand you have a commanding chip lead and are set to make a run at the top 3 spots.

The CO can be 3betting you on this spot a bit light I think, you both have the stacks for it, and he also have position on you to play post flop.

As the range for BB, I would give V a range of ~22+, ATs+, KJs+, QJs, JTs, T9s, 98s, ATo+, KQo … there is a lot of dead money, and he probably wont find monsters that often to be negative for him with his range, considering chip EV.

You have 37bb, I think is nice to consider a 4bet here, to induce a shove from CO with weaker hands, something close to 20bbs, there is some people who think you can fold and shove worst Aces, if V is on a monster hand there is not much you can do, unless you know his 3betting range is QQ+AKs… but with that many hands I would GII pre flop.

I am not familiar with this range, if you could post it.

Jennifear’s MTT Push/Fold Charts, 12.5% antes.

a) CO push with 10 BB:
35.7%, 22+ Ax+ K4s+ K9o+ Q8s+ QTo+ J7s+ JTo T7s+ T9o 96s+ 86s+ 76s 65s

b) UTG push with 10 BB:
13.7%, 22+ A9s+ A5s AJo+ K9s+ KQo QTs+ JTs T9s

My thinking was that a) is way to week and he has to be tighter than b), but did not know how to compensate. You have suggested slightly tighter ranger than b).

Thx.

Maybe I am misreading this, CO is on 67.47bb 3betting you, and you have 37.89bb and this is the effective stack for both of you.

That range for CO push with 10bb is when there is no one in the pot already, I guess. No limpers and no raise. When there is someone in the pot you have to tighten up, 10bb stack should not have any fold equity.

Jennifear’s ranges are not applicable to this hand. They are GTO open shoving ranges for shortstacks. This spot seems like an easy shove. Calling or 5-betting small and playing postflop oop against a larger stack allows us to be put under ICM pressure and being forced to fold postflop at this SPR would be a nightmare.
