I don't think I can fold AKs in a $10 KO….do you have reads on this villain?

I think that, with just about 19bb to start the hand, unless he is the nittiest of nits this is a call. As an aside. is it a leak to just open shove this utg?

I'd expect to see a TT or JJ hand the vast majority of the time, so call and win the flip. Obviously with the dead money in there we're getting a nice price to flip, plus the chance of a knockout makes it more lucrative. I think, in the main, his shove trims the top of his range – I'm not convinced a random player shoves AA or KK there, certainly not 100% of the time.

I think 19BBs is too big to open ship to answer the post above.

no rivermen i just moved to table five minutes ago and i have no notes on him and he played no hands so far, but i agree with you i dont wanna fold ak suited with 18-20bb in small ko tourny.

I dont wanna open jam ak suited utg either i am actually hoping for action just dont really wanna see big stack open ship lol, but also by min raising obviously u can get other players to shove on you with a lot worse whereas if i shove pre he may fold aj/a10

yeah its pretty certainly a leak to just jam. honestly, in todays game its prob a leak to open jam 15-17bb here as well, assuming you could reasonably have a r/f range at that stack size to protect your r/c range (so youre not always snap calling shoves when you raise and thus making it obvious when you have a hand)

i dont think you meant it this way, but the buy in shouldnt really influence the proper strat (except insofar as that the buy in will inherently reflect on the quality of the field)

remember we dont get a KO bounty if we win, we're the shorty. i agree with your last two statements 100% tho.

i dont think i would fold here, OP.

Yes, fair point Chris, we of course don't get the bounty being shorter so disregard that bit, my bad!

I talk about this slightly in a video I have coming out soon but this is a perfect hand(and one I sort of mention when discussing it), and that is that you are never making a horrible call by calling here, but could be making a horrible fold by folding.  Even agaisnt pessimistic ranges we are not in horrible shape, and against optimistic ranges we are crushing.

I agree with the stuff itereated earlier that tt-QQ and AK are the biggest parts of his range(and for some opponents KK is in there too).  I think we rarely see AA, and even agaisnt TT-KK/AK we have to call.

Assuming you min raised we have:

2 bb(your raise), 2bb (his call) 1bb(big blind) .5 bb(small blind) 1 bb(average antes).  Thats 6.5BB plus his raise of 6700(~17 bbs).  So we have to call 17 BBs to win 23.5 BBs(17+6.5).  So we need(17)/(17+23.5) or 41.9%.  And we have that versus any range that doesnt include aces that has more than just KK in it.
