LP: 6,425.00

CO: 3,000.00

BTN: 3,540.00

Hero (SB):

BB: 3,386.00

UTG: 4,805.00

UTG+1: 2,937.00

MP: 3,000.00

MP+1: 20,597.00

Hero posts SB 30.00,
BB posts BB 60.00

Pre Flop: (90.00) Hero
has As Ks

fold, fold, fold,
fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 120.00, Hero raises to 300.00, BB raises to 3,386.00 and is all-in, BTN raises to
3,540.00 and is all-in

Stats after 32 hands are:
BB villian – VP 56 PR 31 AFq 27 – And had 4 bet all in once before

Should I be calling or folding in this spot?

Many may disagree, however, I think I am folding here. Both could be donks, but sure smells like at least one has AA or KK here. Also, it is very early and you have a huge stack, why risk a big chunk of it. Might be the fact that I have been sucked out with AK a bazillion times 🙁

Maybe nitty, but thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

I agree with Wilmont here. Its so early in the tournament and you'll still have around 50 big blinds if you fold. When the big blind cold 4-bets and the button 5-bet calls/shoves they're never going to flip over AQ or anything else you'd be happy to see.

I'd fold and take note of what they turn over.

just to clarify

if we fold we have 15,663 chips left at blind 30/60 – this does not equal 50bb's – rather 261bb's! an enourmous stack even if we lose..

this looks like a turbo rebuy or something as you have five times starting stack and some players have 3k and some 6k

i'm guessing you rebought straight away and doubled up?

mate with these stacks, this buy-in and their stats, i'm 100% getting this is in

either of them could definately flip over AQ if my assessment of the situation is correct?

btw what did BB 4bet shove with before?

either way, it wouldnt change what i'd do

get it in like badabing said and bada'bink' 2 more starting stacks

agree with hapetimes here. if this was a freezeout and we had the same stacks as the other 2 players, then i think a fold is fine, but since we have a huge stack even if we call and lose,  i think this is an extremely easy call

3 bet larger out of position to start of with.

High five the monitor or any pet or relatives that are nearby

Press call button

This early on people over value broadway hands and medium pairs and you are getting great pot odds.

Anyone that says you should 3 bet fold here are you doing this with any two cards or did you just pick two of the best ones randomly?

Not sure I agree with calling here. I know that AKs looks really good, but there really is no reason to call off 50+bb this early. You have a mountain of chips and there are a ton of better ways to accumulate chips than trying to win flips. You have to think here what are you calling against? I would say that AA or KK isn't terribly likely as you are holding two blockers which reduces the combinations out there, but if you think the BTN is playing fairly standard then I would be highly suspicous of QQ sitting there. I'm not sure how wide even a spaz does this, my guess is that you could be seeing 99+, AJo+ so you may have one person outkicked, but more than likely you are racing hard and what do you really gain? You can put yourself in a lot of better spots with that many chips and accumulate a lot steadier than trying to make these big jumps in high variance spots. Why race if you don't have too.

Yes, it was a rebuy.  1 rebuy, 1 addon.  And, yes, I rebought right away and doubled up.

I'm sorry, but I can't remember what BB 4-bet with before.

It's a 3 buck turbo rebuy, you are probably up against a small pair and suited connectors,at best.  I snap call this all day long.  I know some say we shouldn't be basing our decisions on buy in values, but we have to here…it's part of the “read”.  Many of these players have simply heard the story of DN rebuying 87 (or whatever the number was) times and winning that tourney…so they emulate..many don't even know what a “5  bet” means.

I also chuckled at the hi-five on the pets and looked at my dog at the same time, who seemed to convey in her death glare…”don't even think it buddy..”

I think this is a call with your monster chip stack.  You're getting 2-1, and probably not gonna run up against AA.  If you did only have 50 bb's, I think it would be a fold.  I think it would be unwise with 50bb's to bet your tournament on AKs, even getting 2-1.

You aren't betting your tournament life, it's a re-buy.

I see, I don't know much about appropriate risk taking in rebuys.  It's probably standard then, to call these all ins given the price, if you only had 50 bb's.

This tourney wasn't unlimited rebuys, just one rebuy and one addon.  I rebought right away, which makes it like a regular deep stack tourney.

For those who are interested, here is how the hand played out:

I just figured I was dominated here, so I folded.  But, I also really wanted to call.  So, I figured I would post it and see what other people thought.

Thanks to everyone for the comments!

Some people play the first hour of these cubed tournaments like an unlimited rebuy tournament (because they're idiots).

Either decide you're going to embrace the variance, knowing they're putting in their whole stack light and you likely have them dominated/flipping, or just fold and preserve your chips.  Either way is OK imo.
