Hi TPE. I played a live $1100 MTT yesterday and got myself into an awkward spot with AK off – kind of hand that occurs frequently and  looking for some insight, please!

Blinds 75/400/800. I start the hand with approx 25000 in chips. I have been completely card dead for hours and have only played a few hands. There are four, very active pros at the 10 handed table, one to my immediate right. He opens, as usual, from UTG +2 ( about 30 BB stack) to 1800. I raise to 4500. Folds to big blind (50000 stack), one of the other active pros who calls. UTG +2 folds. I assume my 3 bet looks extremely strong due to my playing so little. He’s probably putting me on AK, JJ +

Flop is 3JT rainbow. BB checks, I bet 7500  into 12000 pot. He raises to put me all in for my remaining 13000. I fold, because I assume he thinks I’ll call and could well have an overpair. I’m giving him JT +

What would be a better way to play this hand?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I think you can check behing on that flop, since you put V on JT+, he will have lots of str8 draws or some pair or two pair with his hand, I guess JJ and TT is possible on his range as well.

That cbet puts almost half of your stack in there, and leave you with less than 20bb.

Check that flop, and reevaluate turn.

I don’t think you’re appreciating how strong the BB’s cold call is, or what a bad flop this is for you. Just check back and plan to give up most turns. I’d seriously considering folding even if the turn was an A or K, if someone bet into me.
