Small stakes ACR tournament.

I may be over complicating things here, but after flatting this pre I wasn’t sure how best to extract value without making my hand look like the monster it is.

1) What is the case for betting the flop?

2) What gets more value from villain’s marginal hands: betting turn or planning on betting river if he checks.

-Leading turn seems tough to me because there are very few draws in my range.

One candidate could be AQ clubs, but I’m not sure I’d want to lead with it.

On the other hand it does seem like a card that villain will check back pretty often.

3) I picture villain’s flop range to have a lot of whiffs. Am I overestimating my opponents by not just betting the flop and expecting them to have worse in their calling range?

Thank you!

I’d play the way you played this as well. Check-call flop, check to see if he barrels twice.. and if he doesn’t, bet the river for value.. If he barrels twice, based on the amount he barrels on the turn, I am deciding whether to check or v-bet the river.

As played, I like your plan of either check-calling turn and river or betting river if V checks back turn. If you check-call turn, I don’t see any case for donking river. What would you ever play that way except for a very strong hand?

I don’t mind Hero’s line, but I do think betting flop is a quite viable option as well, and if you want to try to play a big pot with this hand, that’s the way to do it. I think it’s a good way to play lots of other hands you could have in your range like QJs/JTs and maybe even AQ/AJ.

V may have whiffs in their range which they are planning to give up but at the same time they may very well have a hand like TT/JJ/QQ or weaker Kx which they may be willing to c/c down 3 streets with.

This is thought provoking!
