Villain in LP is opening a lot when folded to him in LP – i feel like hes capable of flatting here with a wide range, even the top of his range also

EP villain isn't overly aggressive or loose

Advice pre and on all streets would be appreciated

I think after the 2barrell and call on the turn its an ok fold but could i have played it differently prior to the turn?

cheers all

Fold preflop. Or raise preflop. Just don't flat.

i dont necessarily mind flatting this pre, although that might be a leak of mine – i just figure that AJ is too strong to fold, but too weak to 3bet as i think 3betting is a reverse implied odds scenario. I would much rather 3bet A5ss or 78ss here than AJo.

Having said that, out of position makes it hard to pot control, even if you have hit top pair

in terms of a check raise on the flop, i dont really like it either, because there are a bunch of draws that are just going to shove their stack in your face and you are left wondering.

I like your play, i would probably check call turn as well if there wasnt another caller as well, and then c/c river if draws miss.

thoughts?

Im with benny. i don’t bloat the pot oop by 3betting and play my hand for the value it has against their weaker ranges.

I don’t mind c/call the turn also, you now beat JT and are still ahead of the draws and weaker Jacks. if there wasn’t so many draws then it would be a clearer fold. both their ranges are stillpretty wide here

The strength of your hand is disguised, if you raise on any street then you give that away and allow them to make good decisions against you. check calling for value oop on multiple streets is a viable strategy these days against the increasingly aggressive opposition imo

We don't beat JT now…

But played fine imo. He's raised UTG+1 and is betting twice into 2 players, looks ridic strong imo.

I think i prefer to just fold pre, though maybe that’s being a tad on the nitty side. Check-call flop is standard. Turn is a tough spot i think, and is a prime example of why it sucks so much to play out of position. The c-bettor is never on a stone cold bluff here i think. He is most likely thinking u guys have draws or top pair hands, so he’s probably not expecting to make you both fold. That being said, the strength of your hand is disguised a bit, and i wouldn’t be surprised at all if the aggressor was just continuing to fire with KJ/QJ thinking its the best hand. He may also be the type of player to double barrell here with a draw. But if we do call this turn, then the river is going to be very hard to play well. We are still out of position in a 3 way pot with a marginal hand. It’s just a classic reverse implied odds spot. Not to mention that there’s a chance that the 2nd player is trapping as well. Overall i think this hand is an example of why i think folding pre is the best play. We’ve hit one of the better boards for our hand, and it’s still such a hard spot to play profitably. As played pre, i like the line you took for the rest of the hand.

Agree with fold on river as I see us beating nothing here.

OR can easily have KQs, AKs, and AQs in his range in addition to some other hands that had us beaten anyway.

His bet sizing is pretty good, too – 1/3 pot on flop, about 55% on Turn, and a very value weighted river bet.

I still prefer a fold pre-flop as you'll very seldom show profit OOP in a multiway pot vs. an EP opener.

Thanks for the replies guys, i did briefly think abour folding pre but thought at the time that it was just too nitty

OR had JT and LP had AQo for rivered better 2 pair

I'm probably going to lean toward folding in similar spots in the future just b/c as emufart rightly said – we have hit one of the better flops for our hand and it's still a tough spot thats pretty hard to play profitably.
