My question is how do you guys handle theses while you are playing?

In my instance, I think I started with the chatroom at another training site and that evolved to AIM and then skype.  It was great for awhile,  but it turned into less talk about hands and situations and more of a social deal.  It's nice to be able to talk to the guys while you're playing,  but these days I feel like it takes away from my game.

Thanks,

Jakuta

yeah, trick is just being selective about usage.  I love the TPE chatroom and spend quite a bit of time in there for social and strategy conversation.  But when i have a lot of tables or im deep or at a FT, I just minimize it and open it up if i want to say something.

Playing online naturally has a TON of possible distractions, so its all about being selective in what you partake in.

I usually go away or onvisible when I have a bunch of tables up.  When I have a few up, I usually love chatting bc it helps pass the time

go old scholl if you dont like it turn off all communication devices and throw the tunes on and do your thing. if you play live you generally have the whole table talking about utter nonsense so you basically are going to get this at every poker avenue and really poker players love to hear themselves speak so expect it its just part of the game in the 2010s

I struggle with this as well.

I met a few poker players via another poker site, and the skype chat was really informative at first, but now we just have fun and bash eachother.

I might be better to stop using Skype during a session..

this.

for any of you having trouble with chatting and playing, or surfing the web and playing, etc. just stop. make yourself turn them off when you play and FOCUS. if i think i'm playing bad or they're effecting me i just turn them off.
