So this is my first post and I know I should be using the hand converter but I did not save it. this was a $24+2 32k guarantee mtt.

I had JJ in the Big blind with about 14k in chips and blinds were 150/300.  Player in the UTG+2 position was moved to the table two hands prior to this hand so I was not sure what his style was, but he had 10k in chips.

So The player in UTG+2 opened for 600 and it folded to me so I chose to just flat.  Flop came AJ5 rainbow.  The pot is 1575 so I bet 989 and he calls.  Next card is Q, so now I am obviously worried about the K10, but I choose to bet 2299 and he calls again.  So now the pot is 8151 and a 2 hits the river. There is no flush possibility, but I am worried about the straight so I check hoping he checks behind and he shoves.  I call and he turns over K10 so I am frustrated and I was just hoping someone could give me advice on how I could have played this better?  I know this may be tough to read so I apologize in advance, I will use the hand converter next time.  Thanks.

Don't see how your getting away from this hand and i think you played it pretty well. The villian raise pre with K10 is not very good and the flop call with an A on the board and nothing but a gut shot draw is worse. I think it is just a bad player getting lucky. No way I am folding after hitting my set with JJ. Bad luck. One of the pros should chime in soon.

Yeah I see what your saying, I feel like its definitely a tough spot. I am just wondering if it is better for me to 3 bet him preflop, and maybe when I bet out after the flop he lays it down if he doesn't fold preflop due to the 3 bet?  Or is the way I played it ok, if we can assume that in most cases I am getting paid off in this spot when the villain is raising preflop with AK, AQ, or possibly AJ from early position.  Another option would be to simply check to him after the Q hits the turn to control the pot.  I am wondering if there is a way to play this to minimize my losses when the villain hits a hand like this?
