I'm heading to Tunica in a week for some WSOP Circuit events. I've played in several small live tourneys with horrible structures and a few semi-big tournaments in Tulsa with decent structures, but this is my first really big tournament series with good structures. (All reports I'm seeing so far from the Circuit events are that the structures for the ring events are fantastic.)
So anyway, on the ESPN telecast of the PCA final table, Daniel Negreanu kept talking about how a lot of good online players have trouble making the necessary adjustments for live tournaments. I'm curious what you guys think those adjustments are.
I know the typical differences for live play, such as players limping a lot, 10BB shoves getting way more respect, etc. And yes, I listened to the live play podcast. But is there anything obvious I should expect to see or adjust to in a Circuit event? Anything you pros have noticed that does or doesn't work in these? Any general advice that would differ from what you teach in your videos?
Just play a solid game and don't try any fancy plays until you have a good feel for how the table is playing. It will be pretty easy to do this if you are paying attention, once you're comfortable just play a solid game. Maybe your table is terrible so you play solid/tight and wait to get paid. Maybe everyone's a nit so you start crushing dreams.
