This evening I did a little of googling for live tournaments. The WPT is in town and there was a $500+$75 at Maryland Live. It was a 2 day 50k guarantee that ran at 7pm on both day 1 and day 2. That’s a little too expensive for me, so I kept digging. I found a gold mine of a tournament in the $80+$50+$20 bounty tournament at the Horseshoe. I don’t know if rake is usually lower in bounty games, but I wasn’t expecting to see 13% for a live game. Hell, ACR has a 9% rake on the $5 MTTsngs! I think a 13% rake with bounties involved more than makes up for the fact that it’s a turbo. We ended up with 31 players, which is an absolute dream of a game for me. I basically nitted up until average stack was 20bb, and then crushed everyones dreams.

6 handed, average stack is 30bb. I have 70bb. Another guy has like 50bb. Then the rest are 10-25bb stacks.
Payouts are $120 6th, $130 5th, $300 4th, $400 3rd, $500 2nd, $800 1st. (these arent exact but i remember there being a smaller jump between later spots lol)

Folds to me in the small blind with J7o. The BB is a tighter Asian guy who’s extraordinarily friendly and is likely one of the better TAG’s in the room. He never got out of line or anything, and the only tricky thing I saw him do was limp AA in the CO 5 handed to induce from the BTN. Basically planning on taking his money slowly through carefully thought out preflop plans. He has 20bb. I don’t think he’s going to raise me IP unless he has 22+, A2+, KJ+. Otherwise I think he’s trying to see all three. I think if I raise, he’s likely to shove a much wider range. I also don’t think he’s going to have a good grasp on what I’m doing if I suddenly 2.5x next orbit. This spot didn’t come up a lot.

I complete this meh middling hand. He thinks and checks.

(3bb) 762r

Check check.

(3bb) 7622dd. I bet 1bb.

My plan was to bet the turn to get called by any draw, and then check/call all the blank rivers. I thought my 1bb bet would come off as weak. He calls.

(5bb) 7622ddAx.

This card was awesome because I guess you can eliminate all aces from his range, but it “looks” scary to any pair. I gave a bemoaned check like I was disappointed with the hand. He thinks and bets 3bb. I mull it over and call, truthfully hoping that my line induced a nice bluff.

I think you should bet small otr, 6x and weaker 7x may call a small bet, but will most likely to check and go to showdown cheaply. Set of 2 is most likely to reraise, so you can safely fold, for what I understand of your read on V, he is not likely to bluff you otr. I dont think there is much busted flush draws or Ace on V´s range, you can do his range on a equity calculator to make sure.

So my read is in there because it’s what i got overall, but I’m not sure if that means villain’s won’t bluff the river. if i misunderstand and you mean villain won’t likely bluff raise, i agree. however, i think villain will bluff all draws that he has. now does he have many? i don’t know. but T9o is 12 combos. I suppose villain does have a lot of 5x in his range on this river, but I didn’t even think about that in game. interesting. i thought “this guy’s tight, probably gonna play passive until i’m weak. glad i flopped sdv”

I don’t think he has basically any Ax in his range either, which is why I went ck/call. He just assumes I don’t have one and goes “ooh big card!”

Do you think the villain will have any 7x on the river? I think that he’ll bet the flop when checked to with those hands.

I think your line is probably pretty good but I imagine betting the flop is quite a bit better in terms of EV. It’s a fairly dynamic board (i.e. there are a fair number of turn cards that change the range equities) and since most of the 7x, 6x and 2x hands in the deck are in his checking back range along with a truckload of straight draws I imagine you get a lot of value.

River check-call is good, I imagine his range on the turn is mostly some kind of draws or fairly weak hands and the A is going to look like a good card for him to bluff.
