With your stack it’s fine to try to steal here.  If you had like 13-16bbs you can just fold here.  Make sure to pay extra attention to your stack size when deciding on spots to raise.  The value of your hand changes greatly based on your stack size and position at the table.

I think im in the minority here but I think this is a fold pre. Depending on the dyanamics of the table. Also where you are in the level if the blinds are about to go up or not. With 25 bigs or so I am not opening that light I am trying to save all my equity for when I pick up a hand. Or if I decide to 3 bet shove. I dont think its awful to be opening there depending on the table but I think I like fold pre.

Don’t really understand ur reasoning big dog.  For his reasons I think his play was ok. He was on a steal attempt. a8 off in hijack playable as long as he’s not comitted to the hand. But as u said it primarily depends on the dynamics of the table. Are the players behind loose and wild or nitty…… By the way masterholmes I think u can check that flop. ur hand has become very strong and board is very dry. Give villian chance to donate…..

Just my opinon, doesnt make it right.. Gl at tables.

i agree with this in general.

i mean, obviously an argument can be made for a steal here, and any set of assumptions can be created to make just about any play good. however, in general as my stack dips to 25BB and below i’m opening far less, and when i do steal i’d rather have a hand that has better equity against calling ranges.

I have started folding more in these spots and doing as bigdog stated.  Saving chips for double ups has greatly increased my chances at deep runs.

I feel the same way…  I think a huge leak in my game has always been that 15-25BB range…  The contention of big dog to tighten up at 20ish BBs, that at that point we are finding spots to play for our stack and save our equity, has been a big help.

im really 50/50 on this alot of great replys on this spot. i do agree with stealing here into tight players read based really, i also agree with 25bbs and getting flatted here is awful in most cases you dont get this flop and have to cbet fold or check fold or may even be lucky to cbet take it down , so i agree ive been folding more so in these spots aswell. however ill still open here if i feel the players behind are calling nitty tight and are not 3 betting wide ect
