Guys…played a live teams tourney last night. Running deep..30/100 runners left, FT get paid. Was card dead for a while…found Ace 8 UTG. Is that an instashove? One weird thing is that there were no antes as the casino were low on chips i think.

I am confortable it in in lp but not sure about UTG. Thoughts?

A5ss to a99ss+, a10o+ bottom of my shoving range here from utg in regards to ace hands. I would much rather open shove 910ss then a8o due to the fact when called you will always be at best a 70/30 dog. With a hand like 910ss you will typically be no worse then a 58/42 dog and have 2 live outs (unless run into overpair). I shove a5ss because if called by bigger ace you have the shot to drawing to the wheel.

Is it a full 10-people table? I guess it is, but that's important info, please always include that and some table info, some stacksizeinfo and table dynamics in posts like these. Anyway it's very close, but without antes those 1.5bb are not going to help you much so you are in a spot where a double up is more needed. It also depends alot if UTG+1 or MP1 or MP2 (or the rest for that matter) is going to call off with A9 and AT (im assuming they will with anything better) or if anyone will call off with A2-A7 (since you've been unactive i doubt it).

But readless, stackless, and tabledynamic info lacking I think it's a fold based on no antes and the likelyhood better spots coming soon. I agree with terbet that i like a T9s shove better than A8o.

I believe this is a fold. I tend to get impatient at this stack size and shove here also though.

I agree that this is a fold especially without antes, and more so when we have no knowledge of dynamics and the buyin. There is less to win when your shove gets through as nqon said, also you'll have 10bb after going to through blinds, your not under any pressure and would prefer to wait for a spot in later position.

They fact you didnt play a hand in 4 orbits, could swing people either way in terms of calling. Someone may sense you being frustrated and call you off lighter, or noone may have noticied you being card dead/not playing a hand, and may just give you credit for a hand seeing as your shoving utg.  I still just fold in this spot however.
