WPT Deep Stacks at Parx  $1600  day 1

75/150 no ante  LEVEL 2  *Starting stack  50k    Both HERO & VILL are sitting on 50k

No reads on VILL.  I know he’s a pro of sorts. Don’t know his name.  I believe he’s a solid player

*Hand*

UTG –  AA  I open raise to 400

Vill (UTG +1) –  reraises to 1100

everyone else FOLDS.

I flat

FLOP – A T 4 rb

I chk

Vill bets out 1500

I flat

TURN – 3d

VILL  – chks     HERO  –   chks

RIVER  – Kh    no flush draws     BOARD  A K T 4 3  dd

???  Do you do anything after flop?  Do you lead on turn?  What do you do on river?

* I’m curious what you guys think.  After this hand, table had a few comments.  I’ll see what you guys would do AFTER FLOP.  I understand that I could have 4bet PRE, but I wanted to be tricky and build a nice pot, but NOT GO CRAZY level 2 of a Main Event.

Thoughts?

I like your post-flop play, and I think river is a clear check-raise. Even though there’s a very good chance V will check back river, most of those hands aren’t going to call a river bet either. Basically you have the board crushed and it will be very tough to get him to put money in the pot no matter what you do. I don’t see why four-betting the nuts pre-flop would constitute GOING CRAZY though, nor what level two of a main event has to do with anything.

Thanks as always Andrew.  I just didn’t want to “go crazy” PRE and lose him.  Esp after the flop ……  I put him on a GOOD hand.  99+ AQ+

I’ll let some others chime in if they’d like before saying how the hand ended.
