2600 wpo main event. 160 entries I believe. Chipping up nicely. Table is kind of lag. New player my age mid 20’s sits in my bb. Blinds- 75/400/800. Hero (60k) new villain (70k).

Fold to me, AsAd button. raise to 1,875. Sb fold. new villain semi tank calls. Flop 5s4s2h. Villain checks. I bet 2,250. Villain check raises 6775. I tank call. Turn Ks. Villain checks. I bet 8700. Villain calls. River 4h. Villain checks. I bet 15k. Villain shoves. ****!

Dissect for me please. Obviously I should have checked the river. And he’s obviously not floating with nothing on the turn. He may check two pair when third spade hits. Doubt he checks straight. I do find out what he has but would like feed back on one of the worst hands I feel like iver ever played

10 min before we bag as well.

I think I like a check back on the turn. If his check raise was for value then you are still behind most likely and if it was a semi bluff then he just got there. There really is very little value in betting the turn especially with how much value a free river is for you. I cant imagine too many worse hands calling and I dont see why he isnt capable of check raising on the turn as well. Once he calls and the 4 hits on the river I definitely just check back as played. If I check back the turn and he checks the river to me then I will probably bet/fold.

I agree. Should have checked the turn. free river with nut flush draw against an unknown player is too good of a spot to pass up. late at night and my decision was a little hindered from the days play. One way I've been counter acting this is to excercise. A lot of cardio improves brain function. continual water consumption through out a tournament is also vital.  any way, thank you for the feed back. he had 55 like the big dog himself.

well, pre and flop seem to be standard. with the wheel draw and the backdoor nut fd its reasonable to call here.

you might wonder what he is c/r. its probably sets, FDs and prob 76s.

to me the sizing of the c/r seems to be a bit big over 3x your bet. in live tournaments this normally means a made hand that is scared of the flush draw

so i would narrow down his range to sets and straights.

Turn is where i think you miss played it the most. its probably the best turn given the range we put him. First, the flush comes in and this slows him down, additionally you pick up more outs.

given his assigned range i would check back turn

and fold to a big river bet if unimproved

river:

as palyed its an easy fold. there is nothing we beat vs a random taking this line.

cheers

Ya I am folding river as played and agree with checking back turn.  He is folding a vast majority of the hands we are ahead of and we are not getting anything that beats us to fold.

ON river as played you have to check(my plan would be to check turn and bet river somewhat big if checekd too again, or flat a standard bet, expecially on river 4).

I think he shows up with 54/22/55 liek 99.7% of the time here.

I would fold the river as played although it would be such a sick spot to turn Kx into a bluff. You beat nothing and should of check back the turn. I think our range will have enough stronger hands in it that we can fold and fell pretty good about it.
