Call, Fold or Jam?

It is very early in the tournament and have no solid reads on any of the players.

Can only make decision on the line of action.

Tough spot. With ir raiser minraising and a coldcaller you would have a big chance being up against a set here as both players would only be flatting your 3bet pre w either big suited braodway hands or pairs and maybe SC’s. Action on the flop would narrow this range to pairs (low/medium) as KK and perhaps QQ/JJ would be 4betting pre. So I would put at least one of the two villains on a set or monster combo draw although a monster combo draw would get it all in on the flop. This early on I’d prolly fold and hope the two get it all in and one (or both) show a set and be proud of your fold 🙂

as it is still so early and we have tons of bb's , couldnt we re-raise the flop here without jamming? with a view to slowing down if we get called or folding if we get shoved on? , we would still have plenty of chips left..

I feel that Im only worried about a set here, if I Jam , sets are going to call me (and maybe suitcases) and I could lose out on value from other hands that fold.

another reason for my thinking is that we all know that early on you see some pretty daft hands go to showdown

Im still learning…so forgive me if this thought process is flawed…

We can't call because then we are facing big bets on the turn and the river with a multi-way pot and a lot of turn and river cards that are bad for us. So I think I am choosing to either 4bet here and get it in or folding since we are so deep and can afford to let this one go. So I think it is up to you. Could be A9 and a flush draw, people spew early on. If you really feel it is a set than let it go.

I did tank for a minute or so, to evaluate the situation and eventually folded.

My reasoning is a follows. (Agreed with much of what was said by other posters)

I was pretty sure i was ahead of amba09. I put him on JJ or QQ. I don’t think he had KK as
he would’ve 4 bet pre as fullachitous had already called his open.

Once fullachitous flatted the flop bets, that’s when I got scared. As “High Stakes Shark”
mentioned, fullachitous flatting screams a set, had to go with my read from this line of action.

I didn’t think raising was an option. amba09 showed that he was committed to this pot
with his JJ or QQ and I am pretty sure a jam was coming had I raised.

The final nail that swayed my decision was that I did not have the Ace  of spades. Had I had that Ace, I think I

would’ve called and if a spade hit the turn, then maybe checks all round would occur knowing neither of them

are drawing to the nut flush, and hopefully getting a free river and maybe a showdown.

See below for the outcome. Unfortunately it was an incorrect fold but the result ended up being good for me.

Obviously felt good that I had survived but was a little gutted that my read was wrong. Well half wrong.

My read on amba09 was correct but not on fullachitous.

Lucky for me fullachitous was in the pot or I would've been stacked by amba09. Sometimes donkeys and retards can save your tournament life.

I was way ahead pre-flop, after the flop, way behind after turn and dead after river. I would’ve lost to both hands. Sick sick sick. yellyellyell

hawkeyeK9 comment of retards early in the tournament was pretty spot on. Wait to you see what fullachitous had.

Without reading any replies, flatting your large SB squeeze makes Amba09 have a pretty face up hand range of all mid-pairs plus some hands like AQs and KQs.

The other flatter can have a much wider range like all pairs, a lot of suited connectors, a lot of suited Ax, etc.

The post-flop action here makes me shove almost every time. I think if either of them have a set they play it much differently. Chances are you're against a weakish overpair and a draw and I'm gonna go for a big stack here or move on to the next one since I don't feel like I am ever behind on the flop.

In a perfect world they both call and we hold but if the player with something like TT-QQ is good they will probably get away from their hand once we jam over the top of the action and then we're just fading a draw or a pair + draw.
