AA 4 handed? come on, right? jajajaja

FT €5 rebuy that I register by mistake, when playing FT I am not looking lobby anymore, so I didn´t notice payouts. (Read one of big dog articles, don´t remember wich one was that, to not look at the lobby, and play the most profitable way…)

IPoker, $4.55 Buy-in (1,000/2,000 blinds, 200 ante) No Limit Hold’em Tournament, 4 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager – The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: 129,084 (64.5 bb)
Hero (BB): 70,834 (35.4 bb)
CO: 123,526 (61.8 bb)
BTN: 93,556 (46.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Aclub Adiamond
CO raises to 4,000, BTN raises to 11,000, SB folds, Hero calls 9,000, CO calls 7,000

Flop: (34,800) Jspade 6spade 6club (3 players)
Hero checks, CO checks, BTN bets 11,679, Hero calls 11,679, CO folds

Turn: (58,158) Qclub (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets 22,000, Hero raises to 47,955 and is all-in?? or call and shove river?? check call river?

This was against two good players, I was pretty sure that if I 4bet they were going to fold, and only GII with coolers, QQ+ I think, is this thinking wrong? So I decided to call instead of 4bet raise. I have being playing solid I think, I am not sure what my call here sugests, thoughts?

I am not experienced with slowplaying AA, before I just ship it jejeje… I wonder if i take the right line post flop here. Thought? smile

If you think villains will never give you credit for 4-bet bluffing then cold-flatting is a reasonable option here preflop. On the flop, check-raising would look super strong so I like the check-call. With the SPR on turn there’s not much you can do besides get it in, firstly because villain bet a size that means they can’t fold and secondly because you risk allowing villain to get scared and shut down river if you just call.

Honestly I think you played this hand more or less fine. Against better players I would either 4-bet small preflop or just rip it all-in – 4-betting small is still a good option versus weaker players – but cold-flatting is okay too. Postflop the hand more or less plays itself – villain can have a few weaker hands to bet-call the turn with, and you have basically the top of your range so getting it in seems fine.

Yeah, I like it. Going to the flop 3-way with a pretty big pot holding AA is kinda awesome. I know a lot of people fear multi-way pots with AA, but I think you are still going to be so far ahead most of the time and with a greater chance to have someone willing to give you action post-flop with a wider range. When shoving PF there are far fewer hands that can call right?

The flop is pretty dry and a c-bet in position is considered standard by most players, so I like the call rather than a c/r that can blow V off “air” hands. The turn brings a very good chance that V now has top pair. With the pot so big I’d just shove. If V really did have a hand like KJs then he probably folds or hero-calls thinking our shove looks like a weak bluff. Either way I think we got more value than a PF shove since KJ probably would have just folded, for example.

If V has KK it doesn’t really matter what we do. The chips are going in unless an A comes.

If V has JJ, QQ or JQ, unlucky, good game….QQ was probably getting in there anyway PF or on the flop, and maybe JJ PF as well.

That said…This ties in to another thread I just replied to. I’m wondering, when we have AA, do we have to weight V’s range towards pairs and Kx due to our blockers? I guess by not raising PF we get to add in a lot more hands that don’t have us beat. If we 4-bet PF, and didn’t get AI, wouldn’t we have to be more worried about JJJ and QQQ here?
