Blinds 800/1600
Antes are like normal.
Im in BB, there are no small blind. I have 27k. My hand is A9.
It gets folded around to the button who has 70k. He goes allin.
I just got to the table. But the button raise 1 hand i late poss and got it. Thats all i know from him.
I know that im ahead like 99%, but i cant be ahead of much. I tried to pokerstove it.
I think he will shove like allmost 100% of hands. Execption is for AA KK QQ JJ AK AQ.
Those hands will only be a raise i think. If i did the right thing with pokerstove im 62% vs that range.
There are 55 players left in the tour and 44 gets paid.
For me this is a snapcall, but i have some friends that thinks otherwise. What do you think?
I'd call here as well it's kind of tough to put him on a range here only being at the table one hand. If you are on the bubble he def can be shoving ATC here and I don't think I'm laying and A down at this point. Gamble it up for a big stack and give yourself a better chance at a top 3 finish.
Great spot to double up. Even if he only shoves 50% you still have 56-59% equity (depending if you're suited or not). being near the bubble it looks like villain is abusing this fact and putting pressure on you. As we play to win and not just to mincash we anticipate the shove and instacall, double up and TID 🙂
unfortunate that we dont have more read on the villain
but if you have really only just got to the table then we cant just flat out say he shoves 100% here
after all – you are also just another random player to him and he's not just shoving 16BB's effective into a random player with ATC is he?
when you encounter this situation dont just give him the widest range you can think of, lean more towards a focussed range
eg A5s+,A7o+,K9s+,KTo etc etc
once you learn how to do this quickly you can immediately get an idea of how you're hand will play against that range eg our A9 will play well against the range i just said (im not saying this is my range for him though)
at a rough guess i'd prolly call here aswell
although the bubble is not here, its approaching, and I for one hate not having a stack to push around cometh the bubble. I hate having to fold playable hands for ICM reasons against big stack bullys.
so for the range reasons and the fact that we want to be punshing with a stack soon, i'd take my chances to double up here
hapetimes, i think you have a really good point there. I just came to the table and i have no read on the player.
I think that i said i think he will shove 100% was something i understood later.
I thought he could be shoving alot there, but since he put it in with Q5 im guessing he will shove allmost ATC.
thanks for comments everyone!
