I'm trying to play nut flush draws like a set early in tournaments at the moment, so when this hand comes up I was happy to get all more chips in. However, do you think this is a bad play considering the board is paired? When villain check raises the flop he could have a diamond draw, 8x, J9,22-JJ and of course Tx, so if we raise we're only getting called by the Tx hands, which gives us a lot of fold equity, and possibly 9 outs if we get called. What about just flatting in position instead and then trying to take away on future streets whether we hit or not? No HUD and no reads.

playing strong draws aggressively is usually okay, but this spot is a bit different. the villain essentially minraises your cbet and this gives you extremely good odds to just call and take a lower variance line. When you 3 bet the flop and he shoves, you usually aren’t in very good shape. I don’t think he’s raising an 8 on this flop. He could be raising a smaller pp (because they seem more vulnerable to him) or something like jj as well as any 10. This sizing doesn’t really look like a flush draw. If you were like 20-30bb deep then I would just try and get the money in, but being 60bb deep it’s probably not good to be gettIng in 60bb with the ace high draw on a paired board.

I think it’s also important to note that we actually don’t have position in this hand since he has the button.

Yeah you're right, I thought he was in the blinds and check/raised, but actually he just raises us in position. I think a call is much better on the flop like you said. Cheers.

also pre ante his calling range will be a ton tighter pre, and he will more likely play his draws passively this deep.
