Pre Flop: (t90) Poking_Fun is BB with A T
6 folds, Good Nickname raises to t120, 1 fold, Poking_Fun raises to t360, Good Nickname calls t240
Flop: (t750) 8 9 7 (2 players)
Poking_Fun bets t420, Good Nickname raises to t1020
Villain: VPIP 19% / PFR
17% / Button raised 4/7 hands / folded 4/5 to a 3 bet.
Hand occurred
early in the multi-fifty on FTP. Both of us have > 80bbs so were pretty deep.
My reasons for action are as follows:
Preflop: I 3 bet as the opener has
been active on the button and has generally raised first in a lot. I think there
is definitely the option of just calling and keeping in some weaker hands that
he raises in late position so my first question is whether the 3 bet or call is
optimal in this situation.
Flop: I flop well without hitting my hand and
choose to bet a solid amount. I am c-betting 100% of the time here to try to win
it early. Villain chooses to 3 bet to 1,020. At this point I think he can be
raising with air (assuming I missed), a straight draw, two pair, a set or even a
made straight (although I think he might just call if he has a hand like JT
here). In hindsight this looks a tricky spot.
My options are to call or
jam here as I think folding is weak and my hand does have value against bluffs
and other draws. If I call then I think he probably jams the turn a lot and I
cannot call turn. If I jam then I could win the pot here and still have the semi
bluff value if he calls. What option would you guys take here in this spot?
Thanks in advance.
Trevor.

I agree to a shove. Given that he has usually folded when 3bet to, I think he has a solid starting hand, meaning he probably missed this flop, but is probably ahead of AT high. Shoving makes him fold hands like AJ+, and if he does call you with a hand you have plenty of outs.

Thanks guys, my action was to move all-in as I felt he could be betting as many non-made hands as strong ones. I think preflop in future I would probably choose to flat and play a pot when I am this deep as it will avoid higher variance plays like this one where I could easily bust if he turns up with a made straight or a set on this type of flop.
