I have been reading through the Harrington on Online Cash and read through a really interesting segment that I think is worth sharing with the community. He suggests in the book to keep a spreadsheet to keep track of everytime you go all-in pre-flop. In the spreadsheet he recommends recording your holding and an opponents holdings, record the amount won or lost and then go into pokerstove and determine your equity then multiply that by the pot and record that as your expectation. What he then suggests is over time look at your expectation value and compare it to your actual won/lost. The trend should be that your expectation is positive if you are getting your money in good in favorable situations and if your actualy won/lost is negative your getting hit by variance. I thought it was a really interesting methodology to look at your push/fold situations and get a feel for whether or not you are making good shoves in good situations or if you are making poor shoves in bad situations. Thought I would share, hopefully anyone struggling with push/fold will find it helpful.
