im in 11$nlh not big tourney first prize is only like 1.2k, there are 13 players left blinds are 2500/5000,  i have 140,000 chips which is just above average, six handed aggressive player opens middle position with 160,000 chips i three bet to 28,000 with 99 and he shoves on me quite quickly if i fold i have 24bbs or so hes not a nit, should i call off here knowing it will be flip often and if i double i have big stack or do i fold  and look for easier spots to pick up chips?

i know you shouldnt post results but i called off he had ak and i lost did i make a mistake getting all those chips in pre or is it just unlucky to lose flip and part of the game? if i fold im shortish if i win hand im near enough chip leader.

i was thinking about my opponent here hes no nit.

I think that prior to 3 betting pre, you need to know if you are calling off the 4 bet prior to doing so.  In this case, I beleive it is the right play, you just came out on the short end.  To win a tourney winning flips/races are a huge part to getting there, and it just didn't work this time.  Best of luck at the tables.

DONT 3 bet without a plan against the person you are 3 betting(and ideally versus everyone with action left to normal action, aka if you 3 bet and two players behdin reshove this isnt something you have to worry about until it happens.)

if you are 3 betting 99 here its to get it in with him.  Callling is fine if you are comfortable post flop.  You also need to have some mid pocket pairs in your faltting range here especially if you have more than 25 BBs.

As played def get it in, but stop making raises without having a plan, esecpaily against the eprson you are raising.

Yeah exactly what CCuster said. If you have been active it is more than likely a call. Depends on how he has been playing as well and what range you are giving him. In an $11 f.o I don't think we beat much and are flipping at best. If you aren't comfortable 3 bet/ calling then you should be flatting.
