Flat or just fold pre. Against a UTG 5x and a UTG+1 flat you're probably behind already but you can set mine here. Shoving here pre-antes is terribly spewy and bad.

I would fold since flatting is over 10% of my stack and 99 sucks 3 handed and out of position.

I cant setimining here, because i havent implied odds and Im OOP.

Open range 5x from fish can be any pair, any SC which he didnt know, how to play…

Coldcall over the open is stronger, but there are lot of dead money and I  think, shove here insnt bad. But if you fold, what range did you shove here? TT+, AQo+ ? I think, that with stakesize about 25 BBs is shove stnd, but here I have more than 30BBs.

JJ+ and AK. This tournament has long levels, right?

If that's the case I don't get into coinflip spots for 70+ bb pots because you'll find much better spots.

I mean… if they're both fish you could argue for shoving 99 but they'll call you with KJ/KQ and these crap hands that you're flipping against because they are fish.

fold to the 5x and a call. i'd probably just fold to the 5x alone. until i have a read that villain is terrible and can 4x/5x with stuff like KJ/QJ/44/etc i'd just assume its a hand that villain percieves to be very strong and is not folding.

If this spots is +EV, I want to play it… Answer, that I looks for better spots isnt answer, if it is +EV spot. I saw here, that your site collects reshove spots into a Math video, so maybe I can post this hand for it… imo folds here TT is bad…

but TY for your opinion… wink

and sorry for my bad english cool

result is, that I shoved (some good regulars tell me, that it is good, some regs hates my play laugh)

anyway, opener range could be : 22+, ATo+, KQo+ and random crap – i think, that this open seems weak

in hand, I scope opener and he is a winning player, so his range is much tighter ( in his position i think, he cant 3betting any cards imo – maybe JJ, QQ )

so his range i think is 88+, AJ+

I shove it and opener fold, cold caller flat me with AQo and I win a flip…smile

It's not a cash game. Some times folding in very marginal +EV spots is better than going with it.

I gotta agree with Coolers on this one, this is a spot where i think you got extrodinarily lucky. A huge raise UTG like that means you are going to the felt with whatever hand you've got at these levels. 99 is a highly vulnerable hand. You need to be very careful with marginal +EV spots, because things like this that are +EV in a vacuum can overall be very -EV for your overall tournament outlook.

I also want to say that I think you may want to evaluate your setmining thoughts a little. If the open was to a more reasonable range (2.5-3x) then I think you can make a very good case for flatting with 22-99 because these hands make very well disguised sets and will generate higher overall value for you, especially on flops where villains don't believe you. In this hand I agree, I don't want to call off such a big part of my stack to try to hit a set, I fold and move on.

Please don't flat 5bbs here. This isn't level 1 where you have tons of bbs  to start where set mining is better as if you miss if it's like 100 chips and you have 3k starting you lose 1/30th of your stack versus losing more then 1/7th of your stack flatting here with a speculative hand you will hate most flops and even some ones that appear safe won't be when villain already has you crushed before the flop.

Sure the result worked for you this hand but the percentage of the time you are just crushed with 99 is so high that it's just not worth it so just because this particular time you were a slight favorite when he calls off with a hand he shouldn't be 5x flating then calling off with don't mean long term this will be beneficial to you.
