I'd like to know your opinions guys. Is this hand defendable? What would your cold calling range look like? Thanks.

Think I'd fold here, and I'm pretty aggro about calling in these spots. It's harder to do vs an EP raise, though, and with a hand this weak you need some fold equity from shoving draws/small pairs that I don't think you have with this stack. 96s/86s/43s are probably the bottom of my calling range.

It ultimately depends on the villains opening range/frequency for defending short stacks.
Postflop, after defending, its generally really easy to play these stacks sizes because you will mostly be c/r all boards you flop decent equity in. It makes it more profitable the higher the frequency that the villain cbets (coupled with a wide opening range preflop).

fapy,
All you're suggesting is trading an immediately profitable spot in the interest of creating a future profitable spot. I think the shorter you get, the less room there is to invest in trades like that, because you don't have much time left! Also I find that a lot of tournament players these days play better when all they have to do is figure out a reasonable pre-flop calling range than when they have to play after the flop.
