$22 rebuy + add on. The tourney has cost me $62 total.
29 players left with top 20 getting paid, however 10-20th get only $57 with the weight of the money on the final table.
The 10 x pot donk bet by villain tells you all you need to know about my opponent. Some pretty awful play throughout the tourney by most players had me feeling confident about a good cash, which had me on the edge of folding…..but knowing 99.9% that i have two overs and flush had me itching to call….should i sigh fold or go for the double up and give myself a decent chance of taking 1.5k top prize???

depends on how much of an edge you think you have over the table.. be pretty hard not to get chips from this villain in the long run obv
This is pretty obv a strong made hand of some sort
In my experience i have seen this with anything from top set, to JJ QQ KK AA etc..
this is b/c bad players have no idea about getting value from their hands and this play stems from all of the times they get 'cracked' by flush draws and they get 'scared' of the drawing hands and overplay their overpair.
I'd prob sigh-fold here, our K and Q may not even be outs and we dont even have the nut flush draw.
Seems there will be plenty of great spots in the future.
Any chance this is a misclick from what you saw?
Im with hape. He has some overpair and one could be a club. If you had AKc then I prob go with it knowing I would have blockers to AA and KK, but with KQc we dont know if your overs are good at this point and he could even have Ac. Sigh fold, you are plenty deep for tons of hands vs this villian and will crush him in another hand.
Hi guys thanks for the comments.
It wasnt a mis-click and the noooob had 4/4. I tank called, which made me feel even worse when i missed turn and river. I instantly put him on a small pair, which looking back (although right in the end) was wrong of me to do so. Even though i had more good reasons to fold i went with the fact that with 70k+ i could walk all over them and hopefully the final table.
I do this a lot when faced with a tough decision and really need to get a grip of it. With 10 good reasons to lay a hand down I often let 1 good reason to call/raise/go with it take over. Its really annoying and i kick myself for days afterwards, but at least Im starting to wise upto it and can hopefully improve in the future.
Looking back on this hand i can see it was a clear fold. Running the hand through pokerstove i was 56% fav against the 4s and 54% fav against any pair J/J or below that hadnt hit a set (which at the time i was convinced was his range). But i failed to add in hands like Ax , which was certainly in his range, and hands like hapetimes mentioned that fish play when they are scared and would have had my K or Q no good.
I feel like i had a good edge over the table and the one thing that should have screamed at me was that if this guy is willing to play like this now, there will be much better, low varience opportunities to take his chips in future hands.
Another lesson learnt the hard way…..
Im snap calling. No question about it, your hands way too strong, and he clearly is worried about his imo. given his stack size tho, i think a 3bet is not out of line although I love seeing a flop in position against this guy with a chance to stack off and win the tournament. THERES YOUR CHANCE! He's never doing this with KK AA type of hands, and knowing that I'm snapping. I don't even think one does this with a set. Maybe a lower flush draw. Ive got disagree with Hapetimes on this one. Play to win, you flopped a jewel stack off or go home!!! This will final table you and give you a real shot at winning the tourney. In my opinion his shove flop looks EXTREMELY weak. Really think he hit this flop, and is trying to get value from a shove? NO WAY.
I am folding here, seems gross to fold such a strong hand but you are only ever flipping, slightly ahead against most hands I know but with the edge here seems a high variance spot you can avoid. Of course in the moment I probably snap it.
I've played with this guy a bit, as in about 200 hands, thought he was pretty weak but never seen him do this. Nice to know.
