C-bet this board 100% to avoid getting yourself in tougher spots than you need to be.

As played, check-raise and maybe fold to a shove.

was just wandering as deep as i am should i be flatting this call here or just let it go. my thoughts were that if he 3bets me with AK or AQ and does not connect on turn he shuts down and i get to showdwn for free and possibly win here.

I might've misread it the first time because I don't remember noticing that we were 3-bet.

Readless…? I guess I let 88 go pre-flop here. You can elect to flat for set value but you need to be really careful if the flop comes all low cards and he's still showing some aggression. That's why I don't like a flat out of position that much. If the flop is something like 2 5 7 are you going to check shove? By the time he c-bets he's committing himself to the hand so you can get valuetowned by overpairs pretty bad.

The thing to remember is this – you're deep. He's not. Effective stacks dictate the hand. He has 33 bb to start. Now that I think about it, 88 is even more of a fold pre-flop. 33 bb's is too much for a really big flip in a $1 mtt.

It goes back to my other post about flops that still look “safe” for you except his 3 bet range crushes 88 so in reality only hitting an 8 is safe more times than not. I can't imagine there's much 3 betting in a $1 mtt. Unless you've seen him do it and show marginal hands it's a pretty standard fold.
