I feel like this hand is very standard, but I wanted to post something and this was the only hand that I could remember worth posting from the tournament.

I played a $125 mtt w/ 70 players at my local card room.  This was a Saturday, so there was a soft field.  I had been at the table for about 10 minutes.  We are down to 40 players, I haven't played a hand yet at this table.

It folds around to the hyjack, and he limps with 16BB behind.  A short stack moves all in from the CO with 7BB.  He had been very reckless and active, and had lost a big pot when he called down on a scary board and could not beat top pair (he did not show his hand).  It folds to me in the SB and I look down at 88.  I insta-shove w/ 15BB.  This is a sanity check … there's no other play here, right?

Thank you laugh

Yeah standard shove imo, an exeption would be being close to the bubble in a satellite but that s not the case

You'd need a hell of a read on one of these players to do anything other than shove.

If I had that hand with that stack I would turn in to Mr. Stuffy Baker

jajajaja!!! Stuffy Baker!!!

Ok thanks guys.  After I shoved the hyjack tanked for a long time.  He counted out his chips, asked for a count of my chips, and then he learned he had me covered by one BB.  After a long time he made a painful, disgusted face, and called.  I was happy for the call, because I thought he was going to roll over like A2s or 55, but no, no, no … he had KK.

I laughed pretty loud, and when an 8 didn't come on the board, I walked away wondering if he would have folded if I had him covered or if he had QQ …

GG sir.  Well played.  I don't know how you did it, but that was a great call.

The saddest, or perhaps best, part about this thread – I can think of a few players who would fold KK there. Except vs me. They always call me.

UL spot, but yes shipping the chips is 100% the correct play.
