What do you guys do here?

I agree with Andrew about your bet sizing. You gave him no choice but to call on the flop and turn if he had a draw. If he had a 10 you want to charge him to see the turn and river cards. I would bet 50% on the flop and 50% on the turn.
Are you always betting so small on the flop and turn? If not, then why are you suddenly going so small on these bets? You are betting 25% of the pot. That is realllly small.
Once the 8 hits on the turn and he bets the pot, he either has the straight or nothing. I suppose your tiny bets on the flop and turn might have him thinking you are weak and so he gets aggressive on the river, but I am inclined to think he reads you as strong and he got there on the river. A lot depends on your read of him. Is he a bluffing maniac? Even if he is, this is a tough bet to call. Once again, though, it would help if you provide your read of villain.
The bigger lesson of this hand, though, is Andrew’s comment on your postflop and turn bet sizing.
Yeah, I agree to some extent. Of course, Andrew got me thinking about this hand with his one-liner last night and I do agree that I should bet larger on the flop and turn. I think I like 33-40% on the flop though because if villain has an OEnder I doubt he’s folding to many bets and I don’t want him to either. I think a 33-40% flop bet then a 50-60% turn bet, I could have accomplished a much better result. Again, I am not confident in making reads of my opponents yet so it’s hard for me to say one way or another. If he is (a) bluffing maniac, I would have to have solid evidence to trust that. Which in this case, I do not.
Rppoker, I do like what you said: “I suppose your tiny bets on the flop and turn might have him thinking you are weak and so he gets aggressive on the river”. -I thought about that, too. I think it’s very possible, and either way, I set him up for a great opportunity to bluff me. I am ok with being bluffed, I’m not ok with my play being the reason he was able to bluff.
Thank you guys for helping me identify the errors here. I am going to work harder to improve this leak. God only knows that my win-rate depends on it

You’re not going to make him fold a T, that’s the wrong thing to focus on. You need to be thinking about how to win the maximum when he has a second best hand. I suggest (re?)watching my value targeting series.
I don’t want him to fold here at all. I don’t ever want worse to fold. After checking this spot on Flopzilla, this appears to be a clear call on the river. Something I need to work harder on, checking my equity on the river in spots like these.
