This is a pretty simple spot, but thought a theory discussion might be interesting.  It's the second hand of a 45man sng on tilt (these are much different than the Stars Turbo 45s for those who aren't familiar). I find myself 3 betting here about 80% of the time but was wondering if any of you ever flat this:

Argument for 3 bet:

We pick up the pot a ton

We get an extra chance at a fold w a cbet

We can get it in comfortably and if we win start the tourney w a nice advantage.

Argument for flatting:

We push out a ton of hands we waffle crush when we 3-bet

When we 3-bet/get called. I don't think our cbet has a very high % of working. (If Villain pot/flats he def has something)

I think when we flat and hit we can often pick up a decent sized pot post.

I feel like 3-betting is the slightly better argument, but it's close to me. Also keep in mind the buy in.

I like to be aggressive here since we have position and have no idea how villain plays. Put him to a decision, make him define his range a bit more. I raise to around 235 here to take the lead and build a pot and give him a chance to spaz out with AQ (if they ever do at these stakes?)

I pretty much always take the aggressive approach when I can since it puts people out of their comfort zone which leads to them making mistakes. Also building a maniac image in order to get called down light can never be a bad thing.

We are out of position here in the bb.

I do imagine this guy could spazz out w aq. Not too many guys in these bet pot pre so he could be inexperienced.

Forgive me, it is 4:45am here on a night shift.

Is this a turbo tourney? Don’t think you stated that…

Not a turbo. The blinds are 6 minutes, but there are no antes and a lot of blind levels. you get a decent amount of play in these for a sng.

In that case I think I like flatting here since there is a lot of value keeping your hand well disguised OOP. That way it’s an easy fold if you brick the flop, you still have enough time to build a stack. If you flop an ace you may get all his chips if he has AQ or AJ or even worse coz he doesn’t think you have AK ever.
