This hand ended up working out for me, but I'm not sure if I played it correctly on the flop. I think this is the $2 3k 10k stacks tournament. 75/150

mp minraises to 300, hj and co flat. hero's on the button with K2ss and 3bets to 1115. Think this spot's great as mp is opening pretty wide here.

all fold except for the co, who is getting a great price and is likely playing anything they cold called with….so capped range and here we go.

(3175) Jd Tc 2h (2 players)

cutoff checks, hero checks

My thoughts on the flop are similar to that 22 in the 3b pot hand I posted earlier today. I think that the times I'm ahead won't get floated, and if I'm ahead I'm like 3-1 fav, though equity changes a lot on diff turns. I'd probably have a tough decision from a better opponent if I were to check and the turn is a backdoor card.

(3175) Jd Tc 2h Kc

cutoff checks, hero bets 1275, cutoff calls.

Though it's likely villain simply has nothing he's happy with, wouldn't it make sense to bet bigger on this turn? A lot of draws and one pair hands are the ones wanting to continue, whereas the air in his range can't really be targeted since they're simply going to fold.

(5725) Jd Tc 2h Kc Kd

cutoff leads 1909, (nothing left to do but shove imo, this river lead line is very strong imo)

hero shoves, cutoff calls and mucks.

I think betting bigger on the turn will make the villain feel like you are very strong.. He might put you on AQ and fold.. The smallish bet on the turn when the K hits can make villain think you don't have a king, but you are value-betting something like AJ or so, to get him to fold.

the flop check IP is horrible. preflop you playing your range whereas postflop you playing your cards.

Can you explain why playing my actual hand's strength is horrible here? I felt that some showdown value hands should be checked back on all flops because I can't cbet them all the time. By checking back, I can get stabs or a vbet myself from/targeting straight draws on the turn. If I do it on the flop, those hands aren't really putting money in bad since I don't think I'm double barreling this thin. So I wait for their equity to cut in half and get money in. That's a concept I kind of learned in mathematics of poker, but it was in limit. If they'll put in money on either street, I'd rather do it on most turns when they're not getting the right price. I felt a lot of the hands that called were not going to be worse.

Preflop I'm getting called by any two cards that will over call in the first place…which is like…a lot of hands for this site. I think I'm in the middle there. I don't know. I think he'll stab air more than he'll value bet. As it turns out, villain had K3o. I don't intend to be results oriented, but I think it's difficult to say playing my hand is terrible when the villains have a lot of air on the flop.

even if villians range consist of air that's not a reason to check? , there's still hands that you'll like them to fold. There's a lot of turn cards that v can lead out on andput you in tough spots which you'll have a tough time calling with your hand. I also don't think Your hand has much STD imo , c-betting and taking it down OTF is the way to go. I'd much rather check a hand back like ATo here rather then K2s. So ya c-bet and take it down! 🙂

I forgot to add also by c-betting we may get v to fold the best hand like 33-99, which is good for us.

If I were to squeeze here, I would certainly do it larger, after an OR and 2 callers between 4 and 5 times the original raise, specially this deep, as I would do with all my value range.

Not sure about the cbet though, you have some sdv but it's true you are going to get many better hands to fold.

While 33-99 almost certainly fold, the fact is villain had K3o here. This villain is going to have far too many hands for those to be entirely relevant.

33-99 is 42 combos of hands. K3-K7 alone is 60 combos. A3-A7 is 80 combos. 56+67+78+89 is 64 combos. Like we're all over the place. If villain were a tougher player, I'd agree they can put me in tough spots. But a weaker loose passive villain will stab once at some point sometimes, or just check it down. They'll check/call the turn with a draw. They also still have a decent chunk of Qx and Tx I'd imagine. That's probably like 100 combos.

AT is a way better hand to check back, I agree.
