120 players left 85 paid, villain stats 40/20, hero 31/23
these 2 hands happened consecutively,
my question is how would you act on the 2nd hand on the river???
check behind or bet, and what would you do if villain shoves again?

Do you know what his 3 bet% and aggression stats were?
I'm not sure I see any value in betting hand #2.
If he had any 2 pair type hands he'd have bet by now. He'd bet with a Qx hand.
I'm having a hard time thinking of any hands we extract value from except for AK since he'd probably check that all the way down given the board texture and your perceived range.
I also think it could be argued that this is a fold pre unless you've been playing lots of 3 bet pots together and a certain dynamic has formed.
The hand makes you wanna go for a little value at the end but I think I am checking at this point. A good player would bet this river with a straight since you have shown no intention on betting this hand, but I think he is dumb and agg enough to check/raise given your history together.
I wish you were a little deeper at the start of the 2nd hand because I would 4bet him if you were.
I think we need to go for value from one pair hands and aces. I would bet small (around 3K-4K) and called a 3bet up to around 12 K. In case we are wrong still gives us some room to shove and double up with a remaining stack of around 10 K ( 15bbs or so).
I think if he shoves I fold but I dont expect him to do that that often unless he really has something since he should expect us to call lighter as we have seen him do this just now.
1st hand: You're cbet was 1/3 pot and was getting called by all draws, overpairs, trip 7's, and any hand he felt he could float and take you off. I think cbetting larger helps to polarize his range in this spot. I am check-raising on this board in his shoes, alot of the time, with any 2, ESPECIALLY after your smallish flop bet.
I am either cbetting larger and getting away if raised, or checking behind for pot control if I'm you.
2nd hand: I agree that a 4bet may be in order preflop.
I don't understand why you checked behind on the turn. I am betting this turn for value/protection. There are so many river cards
you don't really want to see. Obviously any diamond, Q,K,8,or 6. If you are beat on the turn, I'm quite sure villian with raise and let you know.
the river is a very interesting spot. I don't see many hands in his range that you beat, that are check calling this river. This is where I miss value sometimes. I just think the rare case he has J10 or AK and will be calling is slim.
Hands like might check-call the river that crush you are more likely. A8, 10-8, etc.
lastly, before we throw out a thin value bet, let's remember he went crazy the hand before on an equally scary board. Maybe last time he had it, maybe he didn't….but if he check-raises, we almost always have to fold here.
long answer short, bet the turn, or check behind on river is my opinion.

I bet the turn for protection, if he's marginal and calls we can check behind on river.
His check on river is key here – he shove lead the river on hand #1, this is an diff dynamic – he's checked river after youve shown no interest in pot, if he has a strt he would surely bet – even the low end as you havent bet yet. Still think you can get value form one pair hands due to the lack of betting….
(I play no where near this high – am I too used tio getting value easily in smaller tourneys?)
Interested in results on this one….

in the second hand, on the river, what hands do you expect villain to call with?
i cant really think of any really. would be super thin for you to value bet on that river i think, given that any 8 or Q have you beat and both are in villain's range really. (moreso Q than 8 but still)
