im in 5.50 rebuy on stars blinds 125/250 early position raises no info on him, im in bb with 66 and i have 9.5k he has 8.5k,

he 3xs it and i call flop 1074 2 clubs he bets 2k into like 2k, what do i do here? i really feel like if i fold i will be folding best hand often but if i shove il prob only get called by worse, if i call 20% of my stack on flop il have to call him down not knowing where i am, is it best just to fold here and accept you will be folding best hand sometimes. ive seen players in these small tourneys make huge flop bets with an overpair but some players do it with a high , i seem to find myself in these marginal spots often.

My inexperienced opinion is that 66 are played here (early, no antes) soley for set mining value. When you miss, you give up, which means sometimes you give up when you are ahead. Sucks in the moment, but if you approach the hand with that plan in mind, you can execute without regrets. When you hit your set, and villain has JJplus, you’ll likely stack him, to pay for the times you give up.

Don't think you are getting the odds to set mine here, if he raised to 750 you'd need to make 7500 from the pot if you hit your set to make it profitable – before you call there is 1125 in the pot (assuming no antes)? So you'd need to make over 6k if you hit which assumes you'd have to get him to stack off – if you are in happy rebuy mode and looking to chip up then more reason to call, if you aren't or this is a standard tourney I'm ditching 66 unless PF raiser is from later position or a raising maniac.

Played as is his bet on the flop suggests he is trying to protect his hand, this could be a bluff but as the board is wet for your BB range, and he PFR from early position then I would assume he has a decent overpair holding, A 10 (marginal) or something like AK/AQ suited drawing to the nuts – I'd be happy to let the 6s go and move on.

im not just set mining but i have 250 invested in bb and so its 500 to call he has similiar stack, flop maybe favourable but maybe a fold pre is best or just shove on him lol

I would definitely be calling the 3x in the bb with that stack depth, but folding 66 when not in the blinds. Check fold flop to that bet because his sizing suggest Tx or better and strong draws. 66 does terribly vs that range so it is an easy fold. Don't think about being exploited and folding in spots like this when your opponent bets pot. You will be exploiting him by folding marginal made hands with little room to improve like 66 on this flop. Sometimes 66 is best right now, but 66 is doing terribly vs his overall range and has reverse implied odds playing the turn OOP with an spr of 1.
