$12 Mini Grand Prix on PKR, about 60 left, 30 get paid. Villain is fairly agg so greater likelihood to play back at me.
What's your preferred option here and why, a) raise smallish (say 675) b) flat and take a flop c) shove
I know 99 is way ahead of openers range, if I'm up against 2 overs I know I can easily be outflopped or outdrawn but should I care about this based on agg villain (so > average wider range), chip stacks and still being 30 from the money.
Losing a flip would take us down to 20ish BBs, but winning a flip would put us at over 50BBs.

Yeah I'm with riar. Against a really top-notch opponent, just shoving would be best, because you don't do that well by inducing shoves from that player and you don't want to price him in to call you. Many of your regular opponents will make the IMO large mistake of never calling a 3-bet OOP with these stacks. That enables you both to have a bluffing range here and also to induce some spazzy shoves without having to worry too much about him taking advantage of the odds you're offering.
When in doubt, I do think shoving is fine, and it's how I would play slightly weaker pairs. I think 77 is a shove and 88 is close, so shoving 99 can't be too much worse than small 3-betting, and against some players it's better.

In game I raised to 900 which gave him less room to shove but shove he did, and his A2 suited held up. I think it's a spot where you have to try to induce but shoving is obv lower variance, something I struggle with sometimes, trying to protect your stack vs trying to chip up. I guess vs a larger stack (equal to or greater than ours) a shove here is preferable?
I agree Andrew that the SB has the option here to flat my raise, but assume if he does this he should be shoving on almost every single flop?

Shoving reduces your risk of being eliminated this hand. Making the most +EV move reduces your risk of being eliminated as a result of a future bad beat/cooler/run of bad cards/etc. (because you'll have more chips when those things occur). I don't think it's obvious that the former is necessarily lower variance.

17bbs I'm just shoving. I mean do you really have a light 3bet range here?
It's not important whether he actually has a light 3bet range. It's only important whether the villain perceives him to have a light 3bet range. If villain is 'fairly agg' as described, he's reasonably likely to assume we're more aggressive than we are, since people project their own tendencies onto other players. So I think 3bet/call is the play here, and against a better/more reg-type player I would just shove.
