Couple of hands here, with a similar theme….had a few situations recently in the late stages of tournaments playing hands out of position with shallow/ish stacks. Hand 1 – No specific reads on villain. Is anyone ever flatting here? Generally i would be folding so short and OOP but have just been thinking vs these min raises getting nearly 5 to 1 is it worth seeing a flop?

Hand 2 – Also a $5r. Opponent had limped called an all in for over 20bb in middle position with KJo a littlle earlier, but other than that had been playing snug showing down strong hands etc not particularly active. Is anyone playing this any different? It seems to be awkward stacks to 3-bet and then play OOP but had a few of these 20-25bb AQ, AJs in the blinds vs a raise and finding them tricky to play….

Hand 1:

hand 1: if you have reads hes been opening light in EP with his stack, stuff it in pre. if not, fold. if you were to flat pre so shallow id much rather do it with like 76s or something. even then, im not sure how profitable it is. you want to maintain a good resteal stack and pick up chips that way.

hand 2: id prefer to 3b/c, esp if you been active restealing and 3b alot. even though hes snug, theres alot of broadway combos and pairs hes opening and folding to a 3b. if he flats, prob chk shove on most flops is cool. i dont hate the passive route you took but you end up bleeding more chips when you miss and not really making alot when you do hit. unless of course he has AJ and flop comes A83 or something. but you end up relying on perfect situations which dont happen often. so take the more aggressive approach imo.

Hand 1: easy fold. Never flat here with 15BB stack and his UTG range has u beat plus he's betting into a lot of shove stacks.

Hand 2: SHOVE. You said he called a 20bb shove ealrier with KJo earlier, im praying here he does the same thing and calls.

Yeah, I agree. Hand 1 is a very easy fold.

Hand 2 – people just don't 4 bet shove light in small stakes mtt's so inducing is irrelevant. Fish will flat incorrectly exponentially more than they will ever shove over you.

Hand 1 – shove or fold depending on your read on villain. I am never flatting here, if you were even shorter you could maybe stop and go but from your stack I'd rather make the move preflop as you still have FE.

Hand 2 – Again I'm not flatting here, I think either a 3bet jam or a 3bet/call is fine. If 3betting I would make it around 4000-4200. If he did then flat oop I would cbet any flop and barrel any turn to get it in.
