Hi guys, I am back with yet another live hand that I played today in a $180 tournament, no re-entries, 8k chips, 20 min levels. ~70/140 entries remain.

Blinds 300-600-75

CO (20k) raises to 1500

(Hero) D (16k): 5heart 5club calls

SB (12k) calls

BB (28k) calls

Preflop pot: 6750

Flop: 4heart 6diamond 7heart

SB: Bets out 1500

BB: calls

CO: Folds

Hero: Shove all in for 12.3k

No reads on SB. BB is a loose player.. about 50-60 year old Persian guy. I have seen him overplay 2nd pair or flush draw or just overcards so many times and get both lucky and unlucky. He is also a big mouth at the table.

Flatting pre with 55: I just lost a big pot to CO with an ill-timed bluff with K-high. I didn't want to raise and seem tilted. Also, 55 is not a hand that I will usually 3-bet unless I am 40-50BB or deeper. Your thoughts on this?

Flop: I figured the SB to be not so strong, since he bet out just 1500 which was the PF raise amount. BB called, and I am putting him on overcards here, probably a flush draw. I shoved the flop trying to win the pot then and there which is now ~10k. My shove is roughly pot size.

My question here is, I know I am not getting hands like JhTh or Ah8h to fold, and against a 2-overs-with-flush-draw type of hands like KhQh, it is still a race. So, to price out such draws, is it better to hold off until the turn so that they have only one chance to draw to their over card or flush which will make them fold 2x as likely?

As played, SB folded and BB thought for a good minute (which is very very rare for his standards) and called with KhQh. Turn was 6d and river was Ks and I went out of the tournament.

Do you guys think this is a blow-up from my end? Or did I play fine and just got unlucky? No need to be diplomatic.. If you think it is a crappy play, please out with it smile.

That's an awkward stack. Too big to 3-bet shove, and if you 3-bet small, you're only going to look strong to good people. I don't imagine these guys are that good.

SB flats pre with 20 BBs and donk leads the flop. Just a bad player so no way to know what he could have. The big blind's range is super-wide because of the odds given preflop, and he closes the action. Lots of ways this flop could hit him.

KQhh is at the top end of his range, I would think, but a lot of his range has better pairs than 5s, so normally you're expecting to hit your outs to have a chance.

All in all, with 20 minute levels in a brick and mortar game you don't get a lot of time to think about things. I would probably 3-bet shove the 5s.
