Hey this is my first HH post on TPE.

Only been at this table for 2 laps.
Opener has min raised a few times and seems active.
I have not played any hands of interest so far with him but have just doubled up with AQ vs 77
followed by squeeze vs EP open and two callers. My image may be a bit laggy.

3-bet fold is kinda weak, but I guess he has a stack where you can do it. 3-bet call is stupid ugly without some read, so I go ahead and just cold call here most of the time, prepared to play position and pair at face value and flopping a set would be nice, but not depended on it.

versus the openers stack I like flatting. but before you do you have to decide whether you are calling the BTn and SB if one shove and opener folds. i dont mind a 3 bet here either, but probably folding to shove from opener.

Definitly calling shoves from SB and BTN if folded to, unless they are super duper nitty, too much dead money to fold to those shoves.

Thanks for the replies guys – very helpful.

I did the stupid ugly 3bet/call and seem to have a major leak levelling myself into these plays. It comes from years of grinding 6max cash and I need to give 4bets much more respect in general.

I have another question – at what stack size are you shoving the 88?

depends a bit on his opening range and a bit on ICM, if its finaltable/last couple etc, but no ICM into consideration and not too nitty opener im shoving with <17BB here, cold callling with more and prepared to get it in on some flops with just the pair, althought that might be a leak, but I havent learned can't fold those 88 to an open.

Readless, I'm 3 bet folding to opener.  EP is the new Button so people are opening much wider from UTG and UTG+1.  3 bet calling is bad, flatting isn't bad i just prefer to be Hijack-Button as there is a less chance of squeezes from behind.  If I do flat, which i do 25% of the time I am def. calling off B and SB unlesss they are super nits.

Just to be clear on this point; I raised the the fact that the SB and BTN both have resteal shove stacks for the benefit of the original poster / other readers; to make the point that when considering how to play any hand you need to take into consideration the stacks of the players behind you as well as the stack of the opener. And have a plan for what you are going to do given their possible actions.

I would flat and pray that one of the shorties shoved. You would be getting good pot odds, would not be crippled if you lost, and you would get a note on the villain if he folds to their squeeze.

If no one squeezed, then I would float one to see if he barrels.
