This is a turbo 50/fifty SNG so the play is very diff from MTT’s/normal sng’s 😛

Seems you played it pre for hitting a set (getting to flop as cheap as you could), so on that alone I would have to say you should get out of the way and give him credit for that K (after all, your “plan” did not come through).  This is a tournament life call for you and you only have 2 outs to improve.  Yes, this shove by him is totally unreasonable and screams draw or bluff, BUT why would 3rd place risk that in a 50/50?  K6, K7, 67 and everything else is in his range.  Yeah you could say that most of his range misses and take a shot that maybe he just hit the 7 – but if you're wrong you are done.  Let it go and slip into PF agressive mode to climb into the top five.

You've got zero intel – you ended up with 240 in the pot anway – would have been better to have that in preflop (or even 200) and at least be able to do a little tighter ranging, maybe even chase a couple of them off.

But I'm here to learn so someone feel free to straighten me out.

I think if you play the hand poor pre you can’t play it after the flop. You flatted on the button, why not raise. Why be so passive with a pocket pair on the button? You invite the BB who in fact jams on your bet. Why not raise or jam on the button pre to pick up 280 chips and add 22% to your stack?

This is way too light to be jamming on, I like the flat set mine pre, just have to completely shut down when you don't hit, I don't think he is ever drawing because you have 1/2 the cards required for him to have a drawing hand.

I take that back, I didn't realize you had 15bb to start the hand I thought you had 20, this is shove/fold pre….I'm mostly leaning towards fold.

As played it is a snap fold, the BB is never bluffing in this spot in a fifty50 he most likely has 2 pair or a set and hopes you have a K.

Limping in position to hit set totaly fine, but dont bother to bet to find out where you are in the hand against multiple players, you're better of conserving the chips right now, just check behind and fold to any subsequent action.

Given that the pot preflop is 315 before your overlimp I would have considered openjamming here preflop to take down the pot it will add 25% to your stack, its highly unlikely in these that someone has limped a monster. The blinds are not calling  without a monster either at this blind level, if you do get called you'll often be flipping with AK AQ. A stuborn fish, say from Dutchland or Russia may limp call you with a hand like KJs if they have the last option to call your jam. Most of the field that arent limpers are still waiting for premuims at this blindlevel before they get involved.

This is the first time I’ve played fifty/50 however had still played 11 of them before this one. I’ve found that the number of blinds are a lot less relevant in these and hands like this are fine to limp per when you will get called a lot to a jam but can fold out most on the flop. In a std, a limp otb here isn’t good but please bear in mind that the dynamic in these is wayyyy different.

Thanks mate. His line makes a bit more sense now. As you say, conserving chips at this lvl is very important and I was set mining or hoping for a lowish flop. It just looks so much like a draw 🙂

I hope I didn’t come off that I thought limping was bad here (neither bad nor good as far as I’m concerned) – my comment was more about hand planning.  If you know you are going to be willing to take a shot on the flop versus 3 opponents in that situation then why not put that money in preflop and increase the percentage of winning the hand?  I mean hell – you are 38% with that limp (keeping 3 in the hand).  Raise it up a bit, chase two out and now you are 69%.

So I’m okay with the limp but taking a stab at a four way pot when you missed was pretty risky – put that risk up front where it can actually do some good for you and there's very little concern about being trapped.
