This hand is from a WSOPc event, there were 200 players, down to 50 with 21 spots paid, so were still a little ways off from the bubble. I've only been at this table for maybe 2 orbits, got into a spot where I 3bet squeezed AQ, got called by both players, and had to bet/fold a KQ4 flop, the other 2 players got it in with KQ and 44. I have opened a few pots, and haven't been to showdown yet at this table.

Villain 1 in this hand seems pretty active, but not necessarily good. Seems to play kind of straightforward post flop. Tends to give up a decent amount on flops.

Villain 2 is a little older, seems to like to see flops, limps in sometimes instead of opening, typical live donk stuff.

Blinds are 700/1400/200a, 9 handed, I start the hand with 42k, Villain 1 has about 30k, Villain 2 has 38k. The two other players in the hand have 35k and 60k, but they aren't involved in the action.

I'm dealt 45 in the BB
Villain 1 raises to 3000 UTG+1
Villain 2 calls 3000 MP
CO calls 3000
SB calls 3000
Hero calls 3000 in BB

Flop (16800) 634
SB checks
Hero checks
Villain 1 checks
Villain 2 bets 7000
CO and SB fold
Hero raises all-in 35k effective

Would like some thoughts on this line. My impression is that V1 doesn't have a big hand or he would have bet it on the flop and V2 would need a pretty big hand to call off for his tournament life at this stage with the money getting closer and what not.

I don't like it.

Ok, so you've been seen perhaps getting out of line (squeeze, give up). We're not going to put too much weight on that tho.

Anyway, on to the hand: What exactly are you trying to do with your raise?

Your description of villian makes me think: He is never laying down a set, probably not 77+, probably not any twopairs, never letting a combodraw go, if he has a flushdraw with two overs he will convince himself that his pair outs are be good and call (people do that ALL the time, correctly so in this instance). 57 is definitly betting here to protect in this spot and might be in his range?

V1 can definitly have a solid flushdraw here, but not want to bet it to give action back to the blinds, but you're right in not letting that factor in too much. Anyway, your raise probably gets him off all of his onepair 6x hands (perhaps not 65), perhaps sevens and eights but not really much else i think.

I think i lead or check call this and re-evaluate turn. Playing overly agressive in a 5-way pot with second pair and a onecard OESD is not a default play. I would have to have a really good feeling that V2 was likely to be very light (air or onepair) to do this, and you described him more as an average “live donk”, and they are usually not overly aggressive.

I think nqon makes some good points here. If you were to lead, how much for?

I think I prefer c/c because of the flushdraw, and that we are 5 way.

I think he can have a lot of one pair hands, and I agree if was thinking a little more, he would realize his one pair hands are flipping against my semi-bluffs and are crushed by my value range. He's probably not flatting TT+ pre, so besides sets, it's kind of hard for him to have a huge hand. My shove is to try to apply the maximum pressure and get him off these hands. The problem with c/c is that it's for 20% of my stack, and I would not be playing my sets/2 pr that way. Any raise would be committing me to call a shove, so I should just shove myself and put him to the decision.

I would have a hard time not jamming preflop.
You have FE all over the table and you pick up more than a 30%
Stack increase when you will almost never have to show down your hand.

Utg+1 needs an absolute monster to call with 2 people left to act AND the money
Bubble approaching.

Take this spot!
