Hello TPE Nation-Interesting spot last night in the $5 $500gt on Lock.  Villain(33/16 over 90 hands-c bet 6/6 up to this point) up to this point seemed terrible with sizing, but other than that didnt remember a pot getting to sd with him.  I thought that this was a little awkard, but maybe thinking way to much about it.  With our stacks is this an auto 3 bet call?

I feel like with the play on Lock now (especially at these stakes) I can reduce the variance and pick better spots to go deep and win.  I think at the end though I butchered this play.  With the stacks leading up to me, I don't think the villain is ever folding and at worst has AK/AQ.  I elected to just call compunding my error where the flop was dry and he c bet pot.  Essentially I was in the same spot pre.  Up to this point he had c bet every hand.  His hand of course is polarized….either he has the over pair, or ace high.  I give him much credit if he is doing this with 88 or 99, but I don't think the fish opens as large pre with medium pairs in ep.  At this point in the hand I am either going to check raise the flop all in or fold.

I elected to fold, but would love to hear your input here.  I think that this could be a leak of mine.  I think that jacks are to strong here to fold pre obviously, but I also don't like to call, check, fold either.  I mean I am getting the right price to set mine theorectically but could also call and play the jacks for value as well….Please help.  Thanks!

When he just pots it preflop I have no problem just flatting oop. Was he always potting or just some of the time? You don't really want to 3 bet/call this deep and in this spot unless he is 4 bet shoving medium pp and aj. You said he was cbetting 100%. Again, was he potting it everytime? If he was we definitely can't just check fold this flop, and I would just check/shove in this spot. Calling is pretty gross because you will have less than a psb left, oop, and what are you doing if an a/k/q peels off on turn. He might even put you on a flush draw and call, or somehow think he has 6 live outs and is committed even though he isnt. People make frustration calls all the time. If his cbets half been half pot usually, or smaller then I could find a fold here because he is much more likely to have and overpair rather than ak/aq i think. Definitely is a read dependant spot.

i think you failed to mention the fact that he 4xed. to me this guy cant be very good, and im never folding to him in a $5 tourney.. His pot size cbet tells me he has a10s-ak maybe even A9s, since he's bad..possibly 4s-9s. a lot of low stake players like to over raise small pps to try to get thru and symbolize strength, or bump it 4x AJ+Ak do to the fact they are out of position, and really dont want calls and suck postflop. The fact that he does 4x utg tells us he isn't very good tho. With your hand at this stage, there is no better time then now to have full intention of getting it in with this guy imo. I would never flat at this level. You have 40bbs and position, really there isn't a better time to 3bet ..If he has a 10 in his hand he's never cbettin pot on the flop, so I am raising his cbet 100% of the time. Now if you were dealing with a 12/5 or like a 18/3 or even a 10/5 or whatever..U may consider flatting and playin a good hand in pos against a nitty tight player. Like James said this is definitely read dependant, but from what i see this guy is not very good w the 4x…will he have aa or kk sometimes? sure, but not nearly often enough..he's raising at least 16% of his hand with your sample, and that could be lower then what he really is. thats pretty wide, and you've got that range crushed. 3bet 2.5x or so and procede. Now with all that being said if he has been min raising the whole time or 2.2x and all of a sudden 4xs utg..well this is usually a sign of a guy trying to get max value out of hand like aa or kk or ak. soooo making notes on sizing is key..gl buddy
