I am itm and i believe my placing was something like 40/56 here. About 370 got paid if i remember correctly. No real reads on the opener, but that he hasn't done anything stupid up to now. Probably would have noted though if i had seen him 2.25xing already. What is your line?

Just from looking at it, it looks like a monster to me that is looking for action. From opening UTG it minimizes his range, and  I am also looking at the blinds that are left to act.  There are several short stacks behind that he is obviously not afraid of getting it in with.  I think at best you are looking at AK, AQs, I think he may open ship all middle pairs pre…I may actually find a fold here, but I am a nit so I would like to hear what others say.  On a side note, 99 is the bottom of my 3 bet shoving range so I also don't hate a 3 bet shove, but still leaning towards a fold.

in the heat of the moment and considering they way I am playing I would probably shove which I think is a mistake, and cry as he turns over jj.

Looking at it now though, I think I am waiting for a better spot here, as terbet11 said, opening UTG minimizes his range and looking at his stack, i dont think he is folding to a shove, also interested to hear other responses

Here's the way I look at it.  If he showed you broadways then you are flipping, so it makes it kinda marginal to take that spot for your tourney life.  Then, when when you add in that you have the whole table to get through I'd pass on on flipping vs broadways

So let's look at his pairs.  Is he doing this with 22-88 more so than TT-AA?  Probably not.  He might fold the smaller pairs, so I think the range of pairs is weighted more towards bigger ones.

Add these two thought processes together and it leans towards fold for me.

Hmm interesting tough spot.  This tournament in particular, it is very tough to decide what to do here because there are a lot of monkeys, and there are also a lot of regs who get over it after long sessions like myself sometimes hahaha.

A lot of people play bad deepstack poker in these cubed and quad tourneys and are not actually paying attention to stack sizes so I almost want to immediately call. But giving it a ton of thought, I would expect him to jam pairs like 66-88 maybe higher, A10s, Ajo…. so the hands he is raise/calling with from that stack are 99s+ AQo+. The majority of the time I think its safe to say fold here knowing that there are still 6 players behind and you are probably flipping/crushed most times. I would say 2/3 or more of the time this is the case but there is that almost 1/3 of the time its a monkey you are up against who is opening his suited connectors or sps from EP not paying attention to stacks etc. But if that is the case he is probably folding to your shove anyway and its not worth the risk is it? Or as RonFezBuddy stated broadways suck flipping against there too. The structure of this tourney is pretty solid so you still have 25 bbs when you fold and can r/f steal a few times still and pick better, less variance spots.

Lower variance play is def to fold here.  Just so many people behind to act and the structure of this tourney is really good like Mario kart said.  Go ahead and fold and pick a better spot that is sure to be coming up.

Lol. Thx for advice, guys. I actually shoved and he showed a higher pocket. Next time i take the low variance route.
