The title should’ve been: “5bet shove or call?”
This is the 1st hand this guy plays after just folding 15 hands.
Maybe I was good all along, but I was worried about 5bet shoving into AA-KK, so I just called. Is my preflop bet sizing ok.

I was doing well, was aprox 6/42 and that ish happens.
I personally 5 bet get it in here IMO. If you are coolered nh to the villain. The reason for it is exactly what happened on the flop. You are still way ahead or way behind and guessing post. With the way played it was ul on the river but if we 5 bet jam pre, he probably folds.
Bet sizing pre is OK as is the 3 bet, you want action here and AA-KK is pretty unlikely.
Actually don’t mind a 5bet shove either, although I would probably just flat the 3bet as well.
His flop bet is a pretty terrible 40bb overshove.
I can’t imagine he would do that with AA-KK or even a set. I’m not folding QQ on that flop.
Only way I fold is if I have a solid read that he is super tight.
Overall think you read him pretty well, just an unfortunate 2 outer on the river.
You got it in good, just ul.

I’m certainly 5betting here. He will often call with dominated hands, and a flop which contains an A or K can either:
a) bust our stack
b) get us to fold the best hand
c) kill our action when he’s got 88-JJ.
Flatting QQ in postition is much more appealling.
I like this reply a lot.
I’m never not 5b shipping in this spot OOP with these stack sizes. I don’t like your thinking of “I was worried about 5b shoving into AA-KK.” Villain should be opening button very wide and I’m sure he’s more than capable of 4b light. If he has AA-KK then it’s an obv cooler. Get it in pre.
The fact it’s an $11 MTT is irrelevant. Lots of people fall into the trap of thinking “no-one does X at this level”, but the fact is, we’re playing this level and we’re capable of 4-betting light (or at least we should be) so it makes sense that there would be others in the tournament for whom the same is true.
Besides, villain was 4-betting light in the hand as it turned out, so he obviously was capable of it even if he might not necessarily have been doing it in this hand. It’s not even results-oriented to say that.
