Game flow wise, I was 99% sure he was bluffing here. I was too intimidated 4B small and induce him to play back at me.
My question is does my 4B jam look ridiculous?
A few orbits later a prime example why i just shoved;
Your 4b is pretty huge. This is even a good hand to flat to a 3bet and play postflop, even OOP. Apestyles is going to put you in some tough spots but even so I think this hand is near the top of our range for flatting.
Do you think Apestyles is going to 5bet bluff you here if you make a small 4bet? How does he perceive your game?

I must be unknown to him. I have just recently been playing some of the higher buy-in MTT, and only when i satilite in.
I purposefully only display certain badges so I have the image of a recreational player. Also I have the velociraptor avatar, the $3 MTT, so they probably assume If anything I play micro-low stakes and am just spewing in a $109.
I grind low-midstakes FTMP.

Hands that dominate you make up 2.5% of the deck (after accounting for your blockers), so unless you think he WOULDN'T 3-bet some of those, then he can't be bluffing 99%. I realize this was just an offhand comment that wasn't meant to be taken literally, but I do think it illustrates a common error in playing against well-known pros. Their cards get dealt from the same deck that yours do. You don't need to change your own play radically, and you shouldn't assume that they are making moves on you constantly. Above all, you shouldn't try to figure out what they have and exploit them. Instead, you should do your best to play a balanced game. Jamming KQs probably isn't too bad here, but I'd just call, your hand plays well post-flop, especially against a wide range.
I think the second hand you posted is much a bigger spaz than the first one. I doubt you would 4bet this against an unknown, and it's definitely not part of a balanced 4betting range, so why would you think you could get away with playing an exploitably wide 4-betting range against a top-notch player? I don't think shoving the flop in that example accomplishes anything good for you either.

I find it hard to belive I'm going to outplay him postflop OOP often enough to make calling here the move. I'm not saying I disagree with you, I'm just saying I'm not that confident of myself OOP VS a beast…
Yes the QJ hand was bad, but he was constantly 3Bing me, this is a $109 tournament, a stake that I only ever play if I atilite in. I specifically have my FTP badges, and avatar set to give off the impression I'm a micro/low stakes grinder, so that I can take laggy lines in these tournaments. I defo agree that my line with QJ here is bad I much prefer calling the 3B pre, cant ever see myself folding though, this guy ****in had a 90% 3B VS me on top of everything else.

You don't have to outplay him when you are getting odds > your equity. You just have to not get outplayed too badly yourself. I would say that 4betting an unbalanced range is more like trying to outplay him than calling would be.
