How do we play this hand if we play it at all?

Play it exactly as you played it. Hate to shove with 54s but you gotta take this spot with 14bbs. If called, unless the caller has a pair you're pretty much ensured a 40% chance

Shove or fold. only folding if i think i have close to zero fold equity

I fold it due to lack of antes – 14 bb is not too bad before antes are in play.

i fold too

anything >10bbs has a heap of FE when open shoving so we have some time, although there is only 6 players.

Shoving is 100% fine. But is it necessary is the question. Do you have any info on player you are shoving into? If so, how wide is he calling you? In a $7 sng mtt vs a random I would shove pretty much any two cards for <15 bbs bvb.

I'd lean towards a fold here especially without antes. I'm only shoving or folding in this situation.

Depends on how close the next blinds are for me. If it's only minutes away from 150-300, or 200-400 with or without antes then I'm shoving. If I just started the new level and have time to make another orbit I can feel good about waiting for a better hand.

First thought is to shove if there’s antes, but seeing as there isn’t then fold. As said prev, if next level soon is a consideration but not as much as they reads/stats on blinds and their image of you…
